respect for the flag
« on: April 06, 2009, 09:13:59 PM »
I recently left a forum. my avitar was an upside down flag after six months the chief of staff told me my avitar was offensive and i was showing dissrespect for the flag i tried to explain to him it was the sign of distress and that i felt our country was in grave distress. he openly rebuked me on the forum and deleted my entries when i tried to defend myself. was i wrong in displaying the flag upside down? or should i have just gotten along. here is a copy of the flag code.
THE FLAG CODE
Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10
As amended by P.L. 344, 94th Congress
Approved July 7, 1976

§ 176. Respect for flag: No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

IMHO the moonbats at places like DU/Kos/HuffPo cheapened the meaning of flying the flag upside down by using that as an avitar at those websites for 8 years as a way to protest President Bush.

I like to think that Conservatives are smarter than teh DUmmies.

Ok...  I'm generally one to overlook spelling errors...  but man clean that shit up.

It's not meant as disrespect. Look around, we truly are a nation in distress. We have f'n Goofy running the White House.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
