Sometimes the truth will out, in spite of best laid plans.

About 30 volunteers in Birmingham canvassed shopping areas and other high-traffic locations to talk about the need for health care reform, an education overhaul and environmentally friendly energy development.

"If we don't change these three things in the next 10 to 15 years, America is over as we know it," Chris DeHaven, told the group of volunteers before they went their separate ways.

Obama's plan faces criticism from Republicans and others who say it's too expensive. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report Friday saying Obama's agenda would cause huge budget deficits, forcing the country to borrow $9.3 trillion in the next decade.

Those who gathered at Kelly Ingram Park in downtown Birmingham were urged to enlist others who share Obama's vision and to stay away from trying to convert naysayers.

"We're looking for supporters," said DeHaven of Hoover, one of the event's organizers. "We're not looking for a fight. That will come later, when we have an army."

The volunteers are part of Organizing for America, the same grassroots, national network credited in large part with Obama's quick rise from obscurity to president. Birmingham and 11 other sites statewide were part of a national push this weekend by Organizing for America to trumpet Obama's spending proposal.

So what's their plan, they're going to declare Martial Law on Republicans? :lmao:  Sorry, but to me, this is not scary...it just showcases their delusions.  In 2 and 4 years, they Obama thinkers will have no power.

Volunteers fanned out across the Birmingham area and Alabama Saturday to pump up enthusiasm for President Barack Obama's budget proposal in much the same way they did to win over voters during the presidential campaign.

I find their ideas scary in content, but I don't find these brainless extensions of Obama's mind scary.  The USA isn't Germany or any other pissant European contry, geographically or numerically.  Whatever "army" they concoct will be dwarfted by the Army of normal Americans who, when pushed, always rise to a challenge.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking but just didn't have the time to put it all out.   The mindset to me, is freakin' scary.  NO ONE who loves this country and freedom in general would think that way.

I want to believe that so much, LU. But I wonder: where was this army of normal Americans when this proven Socialist was running for president. Why didn't they rise up then and see to it that he didn't get elected?

I'm a pessimist these days. I want to believe that there are still enough of us out there to stand up to these people who want to destroy our country.

But as I drive by cars who still have their Obama stickers proudly displayed and watch smart posters here give him a 60 percent approval rating, I start to think America as we know it is lost.

If they haven't figured it out yet, I don't think they are ever going to rise up.

We're just frogs in the pot, too dumb to notice that the water we're in is beginning to boil.

Oh Ye of Little Faith.  Americans, by and large, are nice people. We are born optimists with a flair for forgiving.  We go out of our ways to help others and tend to take pretty good care of ourselves.  Americans, normal people, are basically happy...and why not?  We are blessed.  We even tend to "roll over" for a while when we know we are being taken advantage.  But we have our limits.

The normal folks who "hired" Obama are no different than the folks who will give a seemingly good applicant the job of babysitting.  Things will be fine as long as the sitter does the job and respects the house.  But hell have mercy on the sitter who abuses the children and starts to wreck the place.   Normal people can turn ugly fast.

Name me the alternative to socialism that was forwarded last election cycle...

Had it been Hillary, we'd have all the same socialist agenda, only without the amusing gaffes to entertain us all the way to socialist hell.

Juan McLame would have been the worst of all worlds, because he's so keen on bending over and grabbing the ankles "in the spirit of bipartisanship", he's have sold the store to the likes of Pelosi and Reid, all the while chastising the lot of us for daring to question or mallign the motives and intentions of his "esteemed colleagues of the Legislative Branch".  :banghead:

That army of normal Americans is Atlas, and back in November, we looked at the options presented to us, and shrugged.  Now we're quietly making our way to Galt's Gulch, where we can enjoy popcorn while we watch the world collapse under the weight of it's own choices.

You are probably right about this. I, personally, would have liked to give it a shot with McCain as opposed to the thug currently in office.

He's taken an office that once had honor, class, and dignity and shit all over it in a matter of months.

How come you aren't cynical like the rest of us normal people? You're making us look bad. ;)
