OMG!!! WTH???
Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY) proposed House Joint Resolution 5 to remove the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as president.
This bill was introduced into the Judiciary Committee on Jan. 6, the
first day of the 111th Congress, and has no co-sponsors.
As I read somewhere else, it appears that the recent dawn of Hope and Change in America so moved Serrano that he simply couldn't contain himself, wanting His Hope-and-Change-ness Barack Obama to be in office forever, a la FDR, to become, I guess, King of America, rather than just the more pedestrian title of President.
Provided, of course, that the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania could and would be grandfathered.
BTW: Serrano represents New York's 16th District, which is located in NYC. This is what he said, in part, regarding Obama's inauguration:
“Today our national dream of equality for all was one step closer as we watched the inauguration of President Barack Obama. This man who came from such an unlikely background to the presidency has become the repository of our hopes and dreams. Now he will have the chance deliver on the promise of his message. We will stand side-by-side with him and put our collective strength to fixing our nation."I'd say Serrano has overplayed his hand in this. But, then, that's what the Democrats, liberals and leftists seem to do a lot,
especially when they're in power.
And full of Hope and Change. Or Hopes and Dreams.
