The Hall of Famer and winningest coach in major college football history has agreed to deal that runs through the 2011 season. JoePa turns 82 on Dec. 21.

The extension was first reported by FightOnState.com.

The agreement will provide "for the opportunity of Coach Joe Paterno leading the football program through the 2011 season," the statement said. JoePa turns 82 on Sunday.

"It was also agreed that the parties might reevaluate their circumstances and alter the arrangement by either shortening or extending its length as necessary," the statement said.

That suits me fine as I'm all about tradition and they are still winning games. Also I've not spent a day on this earth in which JoePa was not a Penn State coach. Power to ya sir. Oh, and F-U for beating my Buckeye's.

He's there until he wants to quit or he's dead.  In fact, if he were to die they might just stuff him and roll him out on a dolly cart.  Same with Bowden at FSU.

at least they haven't named the field for joepa like they have for bowden, yet

Just wait.  They might even do it while he is alive.  Of course, even if he passed this year they would have his complete his contract anyway.
