Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

Obama's advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton's foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

Clinton would be well placed to become the country's dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.

Clinton, who still harbours hopes of a future presidential run, had to weigh up whether she would be better placed by staying in the Senate, which offers a platform for life, or making the more uncertain career move to the secretary of state job.

As part of the coalition-building, Obama today also reached out to his defeated Republican rival, John McCain, to discuss how they could work together to roll back some of the most controversial policies of the Bush years. Putting aside the bitter words thrown about with abandon by both sides during the election campaign, McCain flew to meet Obama at his headquarters in the Kluczynski Federal Building, in downtown Chicago.

Obama, speaking before the meeting, said: "We're going to have a good conversation about how we can do some work together to fix up the country." He said he also wanted to thank McCain for his service to the country.

This could be fun.  The Little Goons on DU's Goon Island will have to learn to love Hillary Clinton all over again.  Oh, the pain....the pain.

This could be stunning.  The unconstitutional Obama administration will string Clinton along for a while and then oust her with little fanfare.  All Clintons will then be out of government.  No senate seat.  No real prospects.  No influence.

Just o.u.t.

I thought Hillary Clinton, the smartest woman on earth, was smarter than this.

You're on to something here.  Should this scenario play out another adjective will have to be found.  Stunning won't come close to describing the consequence.

You know, sir, you just may be right.

However, I'm thinking there's another possibility that could happen, Hilllary Clinton supplanting the Big Zero.  I'm not sure how, but as the junior U.S. Senator from New York is damned bright, I'm sure she'll figure out how.

Good point!  Lets see...

Presidential Succession List
1   Vice President and President of the Senate
2   Speaker of the House of Representatives
3   President pro tempore of the Senate
4   Secretary of State

Yep... I don't think anyone doubts the ferocity of the she-devil, by her perspective... that's only four accidents away from the Presidency!

This is a long shot, a very long shot, but how about: in her position she gathers more dirt on the Big Zero, and makes it public, compelling the Big Zero to resign or be removed from office.

Then Hairplugs becomes president, and in an attempt to keep her under control, nominates, and gets, her as vice-president.

Repeat step one, above.

A very long shot, but not an impossible one.

Al Gardiya is apparently out on its own with this story, it might be a bit premature.  I heard a great comment from someone on Fox this morning about not hiring someone you can't fire, which would be a huge problem for the Obamster.  Once he has her as SOS, how can he dump her out of it if she pisses him off?  She doesn't strike me as the same graceful departer as Colin Powell.

All she's gotta do is get a copy of his birth certificate that says he's caucasian.  When groups like the NAACP find out they've been duped once again by the dimocrats, they'll implode.   :-)

More likely scenario:

The Rookie/Plugs take their oath...Obama's birth certificate is proven to be a fake and his election is tossed (veep included as a fradulent ticket) Reid and Pelosi suddenly decide they can't step up to the plate because of scandals in their home state with their names attatched (think shady land deal and Star Kist Tuna) leaving the door open for Her Thighness to take her rightful place on the throne.

Hey, sir, we're not saying this is going to happen.

All we're saying is that there's a slim minuscule chance it might happen.

The path is actually much shorter and less complex than that, the succession above only comes into play in the unlikely event of near-simultaneous departure from this plane of existence for the President and numbers 1 through 3 on that list.  Think of this instead:

Step 1, something happens to the President, and the Vice President gets sworn in.

Step 2, we need a new VP, who more logically than a leading light of the ruling party, such as the SOS (though certainly not the only candidate, having just been the close second for the party's Presidential candidacy makes the choice a no-brainer; the new President makes the pick in the interests of healing his party, and the Democrat-controlled Senate rubberstamps his choice with their 'Advice and consent').

Step 3, something happens to the former VP, now the President, possibly as mundane as certain hushed-up brain scans suddenly turning up and him being encouraged to retire "For medical reasons."

Voila.

One problem is if Obama cannot take the oath of office, Biden will. The ticket will not get tossed.

Even if that happens, do you think Biden could get re-elected?  He's a buffoon.

and the zero isn't ?

I'd bet HRC has more friends in the SS than zero does.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

Biden lost the Democratic nomination to Dukakis.  He'd never win an election by himself.  He's worse than an empty suit... he's been in the Senate more than three decades and hasn't accomplished anything outside of the Chairmanship of the Committee on Foreign Relaitons.
