'Impeach Obama' groups pop up on Facebook

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Barack Obama has not even been sworn in yet as the 44th president of the United States but groups are springing up online calling for his impeachment.

On Facebook, an "Impeach Barack Obama" group has attracted more than 700 members and a lively debate about the Democrat's election victory on Tuesday over Republican John McCain.

Another Facebook group of the same name has 160 members and urges others to join because "we might as well get a head start on the impeachment of Obama."

"There are a lot of Americans out there that do not fully understand the concept of Socialism or Communism which is why they've elected Obama as president," it says.

Yet another Facebook group, "Impeach Barack Hussein Obama," has 160 members.

It decries that Obama "has voiced support for various unconstitutional programs such as the assault weapons ban, universal healthcare, and various schemes for wealth distribution."

"What are we going to do about it? IMPEACH HIM!" it says.

Well, If he goes through with his mandatory service plan, he will be in violation of The Constitution and Impeachable. - It violates 'involuntary servitude' , 13th amendment

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

There was a supreme court case in the early 20th century that exempted Military draft from the definition - I don't remember what it was called..

Free versus unfree labor

Labor is defined as work of economic or financial value. Unfree labor, or labor not willingly given, is obtained in a number of ways:

    * physically restraining or threatening to physically restrain another person;
    * abusing or threatening to abuse the law or legal process;
    * knowingly destroying, concealing, removing, confiscating or possessing any actual or purported passport or other immigration document, or any other actual or purported government identification document, of another person;

Definitions of conditions addressed by Thirteenth Amendment

Peonage[11]
    Refers to a person in "debt servitude," or involuntary servitude tied to the payment of a debt. Compulsion to servitude includes the use of force, the threat of force, or the threat of legal coercion to compel a person to work against his or her will.
Involuntary Servitude[12]
    Refers to a person held by actual force, threats of force, or threats of legal coercion in a condition of slavery – compulsory service or labor against his or her will. This also includes the condition in which people are compelled to work against their will by a "climate of fear" evoked by the use of force, the threat of force, or the threat of legal coercion (i.e., suffer legal consequences unless compliant with demands made upon them) which is sufficient to compel service against a person's will. Actually something that this particular story left out was that Facebook has something like 3 times as many Impeach Bush groups.  Another story I read last week on this matter actually covered that part.

I think I'm a member of a couple of those Impeach Barack Obama groups on Facebook just for the fun of it.  Bill Burton is also one of my Facebook friends.  I send him lots of interesting invitations and pass on several links to Obama stories on Facebook.
