Is this a sexist photo?
« on: October 09, 2008, 09:34:41 PM »
This photo was taken at a Palin event by a Reuters photographer.

Do you consider it a sexist photo?

I have my own opinion but I would like to hear others before I say anything.

Theres also a Poll on this at Greta VanSustrens site

I don't know if it is sexist because I have no idea what that word means anymore but I don't recall ever seeing a photograph through the legs of a male candidate.

Also, I remember the press were very good about hiding Daschle's stool that he stood on to look taller for press conferences and such.  I guess the media were afraid of being called shrimpist.

It is sexy, not sexist.

Celebrating the beauty of the female form is something to be cherished, not rejected out of hand.

Her beauty is part of who Palin is -- to reject it is to reject her.

I think you read my mind. If you look at the poll at Gretas site people overwhelmingly see it as sexist. But I think that is letting the left make us as hyper sensitive as they are.

Why let them define our perceptions?

The left are obviously embarassed by their gender. Thats something I have always thought set us apart from them. Conservative men are not embarassed to be male. And more importantly conservative women are definitely NOT embarassed to be female. INCREDIBLY female.

I totally agree with you. Sexy, yes! Sexist, no!

The left in general, and feminazis in particular, tend to be spectacularly ugly.  That is the basis for the feminazi movement -- revenge.

Im not a huge Rush fan but he got something totally right was when he said that the feminist movement was about giving unattractive women equal access to society.

Greta just announced a final tabulation on the poll at 89% yes it is sexist and 11% no.

I have heard people complain a lot about Fox's tendency to hire 'attractive' blondes. But my response would be why not hire an attractive woman if she is as smart and capable as an unattractive woman? Megyn Kelly on Fox is the perfect example. Shes a cutie and does her job damned well. Its a win win!

And by the same token if I were going for a job where being photogenic was fiscally important I would not complain about an equally competent but more photogenic person getting a job I was vying for. Thats just the way the world works and that my friends is another thing that differentiates US from the left. We are realists and know that some things just are. It is what it is.

In my industry it is all about competency. Being 'attractive' is totally irrelevant when you are in a server room most of your work day. It would be just as ludicrous if an 'attractive' person complained about a more technically qualified person (such as myself) getting a job rather than them.

Dont let the left define our values.

they've been taking a lot of pictures of the Governor's Gams.

frankly, I don't object at all, any picture of that young lady is a good one !
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

I don't really get how this photo is sexy.  I think the photographer was going for making it look like the guy is looking up Palin's dress.  I don't think it is sexist but I do think it is disrespectful.

I travel a lot and most major cities have very attractive (frequently just flat-out hot) women in the newsroom and the field.  If you are buying eyeballs you better give them something to look at.  Women tend to somewhat overlook it -- men just look at it ;)

I too, work in an industry where 'attractiveness' is pretty low on the importance continuum.  If not, I would be joining spark's hub in eating cat food.

Well I didnt really ecpect this to devolve into an 'upskirt' thread. But hey nothing surprises me here, lol.

I can see it already being threadjacked to just posting pics of hawties. Not that that would be a bad thing.  :lmao:

I think it kind of started as an "upskirt" thread.  It didn't really have far to devolve.

I think they are just stunned to see what really ankles look like. Covering Hillary's gams must not have been fun!

I just thought: Maybe in the Victorian era this would be a sexy photo?

Because, like then wasn't showing a bit of ankle considered sexy-to-obscene?

But today it's just too little, I think.  Except maybe in Islamic countries.

Ok I guess if you look at these pics youll understand why the left is so hyper sensitive about appearance.

And then toss in the fact that Sarah has actual experience governing....well, its already a slam dunk.  :-)

It's not so much the legs, it's the composition of the photo. They want to feed the Sarah haters and piss off the Sarah lovers. I'm SO tired of the media!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

As for the photo...it's sexy, not sexist....and what's wrong with celebrating someone's beauty?  The jealous libtards are at it again.
