Speaking during a press conference from Los Angeles Thursday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took a stand against violent, anti-American rioters and warned federal law enforcement has no plans to leave.

"There are millions of illegal aliens in this city," Noem said, adding Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are going after work sites where illegal aliens are trafficking drugs and children.

At the beginning of Noem's remarks, California Democrat Senator Alex Padilla tried to push his way to the front and was promptly thrown out.

"I do not know the Senator. He didn't request to meet with me," Noem said about the display, adding she will visit with Padilla to find out what his concerns are, but that the outburst was inappropriate.

Noem was joined by Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, ATF officials and the U.S. Attorney for California's Central District Bill Essay. Local law enforcement, which enforces sanctuary city policies to harbor illegal aliens, was not present.

"My office has been aggressive bringing charges," Essay said about rioters. "It was out of control and it was violent...we will bring charges and you will go to federal prison."

Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem.

Mr. Padilla was told repeatedly to back away and did not comply with officers’ repeated commands.
@SecretService
 thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately.

Secretary Noem met with Senator Padilla after and held a 15 minute meeting.

Naturally, the DUmmies are hopping mad. But that's for a separate thread.

Just because one is a U.S. Senator does NOT give you the privilege to barge into a press conference and interrupt it.

Padilla graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994. He worked, briefly, for Hughes, but went into politics in 1996. IOW, gooberment has been almost his entire adult career.

It surprises me some that Dems have not yet managed to figure out that one of the qualities of the people Trump sought in the people he picked for his Administration is that they fight. Noem's education and work experience is more interesting. She dropped out of college in 1994 (DU-grade Progs would stop there) to help run her family's farm, and to be a mother. Over time, she and her siblings added a hunting lodge and a restaurant to her family's business. She resumed taking college classes, on campus and online, and graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2012 (somehow, a person getting a PoliSci degree after running a business for nearly 20 years is more impressive to me than a damp-behind-the-years 22YO getting that degree). She also was a member of SD's legislature during that time, and served in the US House, starting in 2011.
