The first "openly gay" Treasury Secretary: Scott Bessent (R)

At no point will any legacy media outlet (at least I haven't ever seen his sexuality mentioned, nor do I care) that our Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has been married to a dude for over a decade.

I'm old enough to recall how we were all supposed to fawn over Butt-Edge-Edge, and Cringe Jean Pierre (amongst others) for being somewhat historically significant because of their sexuality only sans credentials. Was familiar with him from Fox Business, and the only scary thing was that he worked for Soros early in his career. But he has obviously proved me wrong.

For quick reference:

Scott Kenneth Homer Bessent (/ˈbɛsənt/ BESS-ənt; born August 21, 1962) is an American government official, investor, and hedge fund manager serving as the 79th United States secretary of the treasury since 2025. Before his government service, he was a partner at Soros Fund Management and the founder of Key Square Group, a global macro investment firm.

Bessent married former New York City prosecutor John Freeman in 2011. They have two children.
