Trump's appeal is simple. A majority of White voters are afraid of losing their majority race status.
Period. Full stop. I don't want to hear about Harris' campaign strategy or about Biden or about some other Democrat or Shapiro over Walz. No Democrat can win against a naked appeal to White anxiety about losing their majority status. It's that simple. There is no way to assuage the anxiety of White voters. At this point, I don't know how the Democrats will respond. I don't even know a political response to this.
Now, I know some will say but Obama....Obama did not win a majority of White voters in either of his elections. Also, Neither McCain nor Romney spoke directly to White anxiety like Trump did. They were too establishment. Too untrustworthy. Trump's entire campaign was a naked appeal to White peoples' fears.
But here's the kicker. You cannot vote away demographic change. White people will eventually be a minority race, here in the U.S. and in Europe, either before the end of this century or early in the next. Trump cannot stop this. Rounding up and interning immigrants won't stop this. It's an inevitability unless they go full on Handmaid's Tale which I do not put past them.
I came here in 2001 when this site got started. My username, Yavin4, is derived from the name of the rebel moon in Star Wars where the rebels gathered their forces to oppose the empire. I thought that we had secured our future with Obama, but I was wrong. Dead wrong. There's no fighting this. We are forever broken as a nation. This is almost as bad as the Civil War. I really don't know how we even move forward.
With great political minds like this, how could they lose?
