His company was hired to work the event shuttling delegates from their hotels to the convention center. He generally works shuttling professional teams, high school teams, elderly people on tours, and just about any group that needs large scale transportation. One aspect of his job is receiving tips from the group organizers after each job is completed. Guess how much he made in tips after working the entire week at the RNC?

I rent cars when doing so. Usually you need to take a shuttle to the rental car center. I always tip the drivers, even if they don’t help with my bag. Most often I’m the only one that tips them. I try to make it obvious, but not in a “look at me” way. I’m trying to hint that others should tip too.

Mr obvious, hey look at me I’m a big time spender, he probably puts the tips on his expense report.

I have a tip for the bus driver, get a better job! Learn to code.

OK kids, obviously this whole story is Barbra Streisand. But to start with, the "group organizers" don't tip you, the patrons or people who ride the courtesy bus do. Whenever I've rode a shuttle or short-term ride I'll toss in a few bucks because of the service.

Perhaps your brother was spouting liberal horse-hockey during the trip and that's why he didn't merit a gratuity. That seems more far more plausible.

I read an article on yahoo that interviewed a bunch of people from Milwaukee who said the convention goers were very nice and polite people who didn’t talk politics to the locals.
