Is AI "Artificial Intelligence" the new Y2K panic?
« on: July 27, 2023, 01:23:27 PM »
Haven't investigated all the implications of AI, but certainly am aware of all the technological advancements in my lifetime and those prior.  Nor am I certain of all the business or personal ramifications from the HAL computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Didn't hear this anywhere, but have a sneaking suspicion this is all going to be a nothing burger with minor life impact.

Just a random thought.

I rack up all this AI crap to the question, "What can I personally do about it?" and come up with the answer - "Nothin'."

And life goes on.  :stoner:

Based on this, Skynet hasn't gone sentient yet.

I'm not especially worried yet.

Some people may get displaced but ai can’t build a house or fix your car. Automation replaced a lot of people but it opened up more new opportunities.

Yeah... God's greatest creation is randomness, which humans recognize as evidence of having a soul.  AI is soulless and relatively easy to discern and ignore outside of academia.

It’s not a threat as long as there’s an off button  :-)
