So here's a story, and then a thought, submitted for your consideration...

This may be a bit circuitous, but please have patience with me.

When I was a student, and then a professor at my Ivy League institution, I knew some stuff about stuff. Now the stuff that I knew had nothing to do with anything academic, but had more to do with Certain relationships which were occurring which were either out of bounds from a marital standpoint, or out of bounds from a faculty/student standpoint. I will not go to the reasons why I knew these things, but suffice it to say that some of them involved people at the highest levels of the institution at which I was matriculated and then employed . Now, interestingly, all the people involved in these activities knew that I knew because I had been a witness to certain things while they were being say, executed. In one particular instance, for example, I was staying with my then romantic partner at a hotel in Center City, Philadelphia one holiday weekend, and at about two in the morning , I went downstairs to pick up a couple of carbonated beverages to go along with the hard stuff we had in the room, and I ran into an associate dean with a woman who was a professor married to someone else entirely . They were both clearly flustered after they entered the elevator , they had first hadn’t noticed me, been all cutesy together, and then the look of shocked horror on their faces was almost not to be believed. I smiled and said “Good morning to you both.”

Anyway, during my tenure, if I ever required anything slightly out of the ordinary, or had a request for my student group it was immediately granted without any need for negotiation. Now, of course, I never asked for anything ridiculous or absurd, but I didn’t have to jump through the usual hoops, because I would just raise an eyebrow and , the individuals whom I was speaking would say “Sure, no problem“. Now this is obviously petty and ridiculous, and would not be remarkable except for the lesson which I learned from it.

And that lesson is, and it is nothing new nor original, that knowledge is power, and power may be exerted in a variety of ways: from action, and from inaction . Now to my point: suppose for the sake of argument that there were a former President of the United States, who knew stuff. And I’m not talking about knowing which agents are located in which countries, or where the missile silos are, or the codeword for the nuclear submarine launches, or anything of that nature. I’m talking about stuff that if I proffered here as an OP, I would be sent over to the creative speculation group and the thread would be locked. Without doubt, certain things were passed through his office, despite the intelligence agencies hesitancy to do so. You can use your imagination to consider the possibilities which might have been outlined, say in a Spielberg movie, or popular literature of the speculative variety.

And so what if this individual says that he was ready to reveal certain things to the world, that they were written down and in several places, so they couldn’t even make him die or disappear one day. That some of these things might shake the nature of civilization, of academia, of science, of religion, who the heck knows? Would that give the powers that be pause and would it be a particularly powerful card to play, the ace of trumps as it were. (And I do apologize for that…)

If you don’t think that these things somehow exist, and that he would not in an instant use them to protect himself , you have a lot to learn about malignant narcissists and sociopaths as well as secrets untold to the public. Having been involved in many political issues within institutions, and within my profession, the volume of unspoken truths far outweighs that which is manifest in the public sphere. I have half a mind that this is what is going on, and there are no bounds, no bottom for this individual , and those in charge know this.

I thank you for your patience and tolerance with my theory, which belongs to me, and is mine, too. (With a nod to Monte Python)

Kinda pointing the finger at himself, wouldn't you say?  Example;

That sounds like a long-winded way of saying “I think Trump has dirt on people, and it reminds me of that time I had dirt on people, and got favors for it” (the implication being that Trump gets away with stuff because he has dirt on people).

Stopped reading right there because... well the bear says it best.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

So, PCIntern admits they are aware of serious violations of academic policies and has deliberately refused to report it in order to derive a personal benefit as a result?

This is typical DUmmy logic.  He participated in a coverup and blackmailed those involved, therefore all of humanity must also have low moral character.  The only way they can imagine themselves to be superior to the rest of the world is to assume they are only slightly less scummy than everyone else.  Of course, the only way to do that is to fabricate accusations against others with, or without, even the thinnest evidence.  Their entire self-worth is based upon living in a fairy tale world and projecting their own faults on others.
