How do we persuade non-Trump Republicans...
… to form a new party?
If they did, Democrats and the new party could form a kind of coalition government in the Senate. That would be far from ideal. But it could keep the Trumpists from controlling the body, even if they do well in November.
They would have to start with senators like Mittens, who are not running in 2022.
Oh, be careful what you wish for, "Real"GuyinChicago. I'm willing to bet there are a LOT of Democrat voters who don't want their children taught by groomers, who don't want the public school groomers telling their kids they can be any gender they want to be, or who are uncomfortable with sucking the brains out of full-term unborn babies just for convenience. I even think there are probably a lot of D voters who have some qualms about locking trespassers up for a year-and-a-half in atrocious conditions, just for opposing an election they thought was stolen. Some probably wonder why it's worse to walk into the Capitol, but it's okay to burn down a city just based on the color of the perpetrators' skin. I bet there are some who wonder why when a Republican claims an election was stolen it's considered "The Big Lie," but Stacy Abrams and Hillary Clinton can spew their nonsense and the whacko base thinks they are absolutely right. Probably a lot of D voters want energy independence, and border security, and lower taxes. A lot who think AOC and the Progressive Caucus are dangerous to democracy.
I think a lot of those D voters would FLOCK to a party that promises some common sense in government.
