Liberals were jubilant a year ago. Legendary prosecutor Mark Pomerantz was brought into the case against President Donald Trump by the Manhattan District Attorney. Yes, all the previous investigations of Trump flopped including the Trump-Russia Collusion investigated by Robert Mueller, the Trump tax returns that were sure to take him down...until it didn't, and how the Trump Organization CFO would "flip" on Trump...until he didn't. However, with Pomerantz all doubt was set aside because he was absolutely sure to convict Trump of something, ANYTHING. Alas, it was not to be. Could it be that, well, Donald Trump is INNOCENT of all the charges that keep getting hurled at him? That is  something liberals don't even want to consider although the previous Manhattan D.A., Cyrus Vance, declined to even run for office again rather than prosecute what would surely be his most famous case. Most likely he told his successor, Alvin Bragg, that the case against Trump was a dead end and a complete waste of time and resources to investigate. However, it appears that Mark Pomerantz just couldn't let go. He wanted to continue pursuing Trump like Captain Ahab going after his White Whale.

The 'Trump University' case has been eating-away at the NY AG's office for years...  Trump was not actively involved in Trump University’s live events and did not select or interview instructors or mentors. Trump offered no input into the actual instruction, a ghostwriter wrote the Donald Trump blogs and most or all of the answers to “Ask Donald Trump” forum questions, and Trump University did not have a faculty of professors and adjunct professors, but rather independent contractors who were paid commissions for sales.

The AG's office had him... but they settled it out of Court because they bungled-around trying to prove fraud.  Nobody forced them to settle out of Court.  It must drive them crazy that they can't revisit it.
