Lee Harvey Oswald met with a KGB agent just two months before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, according to newly unsealed confidential documents stemming from JFK’s murder.

The CIA memos, part of a trove of nearly 1,500 documents released Wednesday by the National Archives and Records Administration, also disclose that an anonymous tipster warned US embassy officials in Australia a year earlier that Kennedy would be assassinated by the Soviet Union for a $100,000 bounty.

But the tip was never passed on to the CIA.

“Cabled to Canberra asking full details of the telephone conversation of 23 November and the call made 15 October 1962, a 1964 memo said. “It should be noted that CIA had not previously known of the 1962 telephone call.”

Lots of theories, lots of conjecture, lots of documents, lots of crap fed to the Warren Commission, which wasn't convened to do much more than make sure that Oswald was the lone shooter.  LBJ had a special interest in just that, given that the 1964 presidential election was right around the corner. He wanted it wrapped up beforehand, tied up in a nice little bow so he could be seen as having "solved" the assassination.

I'm inclined to believe that the mob took care of JFK. Yeah, I know, it's more conjecture, but that one rings true to me especially given the circumstances (JFK's daddy, who was definitely associated with the mob) RFK's relentless attacks on the mob at that time (but nowhere near as successful as during Guiliani's tenure as DA of the Southern District of NYC, which came much later).

Michael Franzese talks pretty convincingly about all this but yeah, it's more conjecture.

I kinda doubt we'll ever know the real truth.

The logic isn't there, for hiding that innocuous KGB-tidbit for 60-years.

Somebody's using Biden's mummified Presidency to unload this stuff while the original secrets stay hidden.  It was probably the Mob being contracted by the CIA, with Oswald as the bunny.

While I know we're in a "gimme information now" society, this still baffles me that they've hidden so many documents for this long of a period of time.  JFK was killed 7 years before I was born and stuff is still trickling out?

I remember the exact moment when I heard that Kennedy had been assassinated. I was in my stroller facing a black and white TV, throwing a fit that my bottle of milk was cold and I wanted mom to reheat it. The breaking news announcement came on and I paused in my bawling for about 2 seconds and then continued demanding that my bottle be reheated.

While I know we're in a "gimme information now" society, this still baffles me that they've hidden so many documents for this long of a period of time.  JFK was killed 7 years before I was born and stuff is still trickling out?

Kinda tells me that the government would be too embarrassed to admit that they allowed a U.S. president to be assassinated by the mob/La Cosa Nostra.

But that kind of view is too "conspiracy theory" oriented to be looked at with any kind of seriousness.

Let's not forget that the Warren Commission was a hurry-up-and-get-it-done deal prompted by LBJ who had every reason to get it wrapped up before the 1964 presidential election.
