Read more about it. She went against the entire state GOP organization in running for governor. Some leaders in that orgnization vowed payback against her. In most states, the upper levels of the state police are owned and operated as political fiefdoms by the state's dominant political party. Apparently Alaska is no different.
In the case of this guy, aside from alcohol abuse, domestic violence and death threats, he admitted popping his little stepson with a taser. Someone in the state police saw efforts to get rid of this guy as a way to attack Palin politically, because he was married to her sister. Typical run-of-the-mill political retaliation. Palin claims her administration was doing it, but she had not been personally involved. Then she fired the head of the state police for refusing to hire replacements.
The only question I'd ask is if she was not directly involved in firing the rogue trooper, why not? She certainly should have been trying to protect the people of Alaska from having this guy in a position of authority, carrying a gun. They can't lay a glove on her. They also have to be very careful with allegations of corruption. Remember, take away 140 days in the Senate, and the guy at the top of their ticket is still a professional Chicago race hustler.
