It's Saturday!!!
« on: August 30, 2008, 09:43:38 AM »
I'm at work.  Still no night/Saturday receptionist, so I'm working the phones today.

I brought a crochet hat that I'm working on to work, so hopefully this afternoon I'll finish it up.

My family has made their plans if they have to evacuate for Gustav.  Hotel reservations have been made, but it'll be at least another day before we know.

Prayers go out to your family and their safe travel. I'm working as well til 5:00. We'll be having a family cook out tomorrow. Everyone have a safe holiday.

Slept in until 9:30! I never do that. I guess I needed the sleep.

I'm just going to stay in today and clean. I might also get started on Season 2 of Lost. My co-worker lent me the DVD's yesterday.

I'm going to see if I can loosen the bleeder valves on my brakes without tearing them apart.  I left them soaking in WD-40 yesterday.  Those are about the only plans I have for today.  I'm enjoying the three-day weekend, but I wish the motorcycle shop was open.  They're closed too.

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

Momma has gone to bed and I've settled in for a Heroes season 2 marathon. I only saw them up till the writers strike so I have some catching up to do.

I have family friends that have pulled out of MS and are headed to MO. Hopefully everyone will stay safe!

that's probably smart.  this storm is huge, and the computer models are beginning to go a little schizo.  my parents are 100 inland in southern mississippi, and they will still probably get blown around pretty good.

Well, they just go with the philosophy of they have flood insurance and home owner's insurance.  There's no need to stick around.  :)

LOL!  Indeed.  They were lucky during Rita that their houses didn't suffer much damage.  They bought generators back in 2005.  They came in use during Humberto (last year?).  It was a cat 1, I believe, when it landed it had sped up really fast from a TS to a Cat 1.  It wasn't bad that they would have evacuated for a cat 1 anyways, but their power was out for days.  They were thankful for the generators.  They could keep the fridges/freezers running as well as a couple ceiling fans.

During Rita they had to go home to clean out the fridges/freezer.  My aunt said it was the most disgusting thing.  One said that even if it was in tupperware, she just threw the whole thing away.  LOL  My aunt Jennifer had 14 lbs of shrimp in her freezer that she had to clean out!  She said it smelled so bad that she was gagging.  Hence, the purchase of generators.

my parents are 100 miles inland (as I mentioned somewhere else tonight), and they had $20K worth of damage to their house and the property when katrina blew through.  the eye was still formed when ii passed them, and it passed just a few miles to the west.  and that is exactly were you do NOT want to be with a hurricane.
