Mia's First Day of School!
« on: August 29, 2008, 06:55:12 PM »
Today's Mia's first day of school  :cheersmate:  Lets' cheer her on, for such a momentous milestone of life!

She's spending the day in orientation, being given access to the gal's shower, lectures on the definition of no, and likely... being given lots of credit card app's, condoms, and hints on where the best drunk'fests are.

Unfortunately, she's not around to answer questions.... so please feel free to post up lots of questions for her!  Wait, it's no fun to wait till she returns, feel free to answer them too!

Oh my orientation has changed since I went 28 years ago! Although I was an 80s girl, it was a much more innocent time I guess..... yay 00's.

Have fun Mia!

Hope all goes well, Mia.  :)

I just finished my 2nd week, and my statistics course has already managed to make me cry.  :bawl:

The 80's were "innocent"?????
Where were you?  There was no "innocence" whatsoever in my 80's.

Wild thing.  :-)

Orientation was okay.  The forced us to spend all morning outside doing silly "team building" games to help the freshman realize you "can't do this all on your own" and that kind of stuff.  It was really freaking hot outside.

I made friends with this 21 year old that's also a transfer student.  She also thought all the games were stupid.  :)  And she's in my silly "Intro to College Studies" class on Wednesday.

I'm really loving that I'm going to such a small school.  We met everyone yesterday, the Provost, all the various deans, everyone except the janitor and security guard.  I met the dean of the automotive marketing dept and he's nice.  So far it appears that I'm the only woman in the program right now.

On the upside:  I had a whole bunch of people ask me if I was living on campus, so that means I look like I'm 18.  :)

Glad you've already made friends, realized you're the hottest gal in your program, and are having fun... even with some silly games thrown in  :cheersmate:

Oh, and I got out of two things.  On Tuesday there's a "mandatory" lecture in the morning for all new students on APA format for papers, and Wednesday morning there's the opening ceremony for the year.  I just told my counselor that I have to work and I can't make those two things and she said it was okay.  :)

Oh OUR Mia! I thought this was about someone's little kindergartener. LOL!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Well, it's like being a kindergartner again...since I haven't been to school in 8 years.  :)

I found my old messenger bag to take and bought new pens and pencils.  :)

Yeah but do you have a nap mat? :-)

I'd only go back to school if they had nap and cookie time.

In the afternoon during our break time, they did have soda and cookies for us.  I did take a nap when I got home.  :)

Well, spending all morning outside in the heat, I was exhausted.  I got home and ate dinner a little after 5, then said to myself "I'll just take a little nap."  Yeah, I was out like a rock.  I eventually woke up around 10ish and set my alarm clock for this morning.  I slept from 6pm until 6:30 this morning.   :-)

You're going to do great!
Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.
