Hillary brought up a really good point in her CodeCon talk

The problem with Dems in general is that we will donate to candidates but not the party itself.

When she finally got the nomination, she said the DNC was almost insolvent whereas the GOP poured $100million into their data tech starting in 2012, so they built up their war chest over 4 years and also had four years to collate data.

She had months in comparison.

But didn't Hillary have a PAC raising millioms for her almost a year before she even announced she was running?

Many of us can only afford to donate once if at all and it is better used for local Democrats than the DNC. What happened to the millionaires that hold thousand dollar a plate fundraisers?

I like Hillary, but if what you say is true, she is shaming the poor that give what they can when there are wealthy people that can afford to give more and bundle more. And, that is why working class people dislike the establishment.

9. Well.

The DNC out spent the RNC. Maybe the DNC should look into how they spent the money. They paid more to consultants than ever for no return. Maybe they need to fire the high priced consultant firms that focused on commercials in safe states. The reason I say that is the cost for NY and CA commercials are much higher than in red states, so the consultants took a higher percentage of the money. So, it is in their interest to only run their ads in blue states. Instead, that money that went to the consultants could have paid for a better ground game in the rust belt swing states.

When a member sees the truth and speaks it... they are not long for DU...

The DNC lost in swing states because of a strategy that was failing. The state and local Democratic parties in the rust belt swing states were BEGGING for more help and for Hillary to show up and their requests were igbored.
The DNC failed.

I am not against the DNC, I am against how poorly their strategy was in 2016.

I haven't crunched any numbers or gotten into the nitty gritty, but it's my impression that if those 3 million were scattered more heavily in the rust belt states, it would definitely have swung things our way without necessarily losing any ground (i.e. Electoral College totals) in some places Hillary won handily.

28. It was a good point. The leader of the party, effectively, was President Obama. And, instead of strengthening the party apparatus, he ran his campaigns through OFA and allowed the DNC to languish. It will take at least a decade to build up the resources needed to compete in all 50 states again.

Barry was looking at the world picture. He didn't care about the DNC because he was don't with it. Nothing more they could do for him so he left it behind. My bet is he's going to try for the UN top spot.

My Republican sister lived with me until the middle of 2016. I've mentioned that previously. She got bombarded with phone calls and flyers to this house long after she moved out. And it persists this year. There are local races coming up. I can't believe how many flyers and phone calls I'm receiving, in her name. Completely unprecedented for such minor races and in an off-year.

In contrast, I am a registered Democrat who has received zero phone calls or flyers. Zero. Very familiar from last year and recent years. Actually last year I received one phone call, in support of a local candidate named Dwight Bullard. I was so astonished at the contact I spoke to the nice woman on the phone for a long time, emphasizing how pathetic it was that Republicans were dominating the outreach aspect in Dade County, contrary to conventional wisdom.

Last week there was a first: Two middle aged white males knocked on my door. They knew my name. They knew my registration. They didn't care. They were pushing a Republican agenda and asking me to support their candidate. I told them, "I would never vote for a Republican in my life." One of them silently walked toward the next home but the other guy smiled and laughed briefly while saying, "Okay, we'll take that as a No...for now."

That's more than a hint at ongoing strategy. Just like suppression works if they keep doing it, not every Democrat who answers that door is going to turn them away immediately.

don't you know? Some people want Hillary to constantly be apologizing for the disturbance she caused them by forcing them to think about the horrific possibility of having a woman as their president. Not just any woman -- a woman might be OK if she were obviously inferior to them and accepted her role as a sex object, like, say, Sarah Palin -- no, a woman who is more intelligent, more experienced, more competent than they are. They cannot stand that thought! All women must be inferior to them! So they heap hate and insults on Hillary, the kind of hate and insults no male presidential candidate has ever received.

They think they're hurting Hillary, but in fact they're hurting themselves. No one who is so full of hatred and insecurity can possibly be very happy and satisfied in his own life. Meanwhile, Hillary, who is a loving and caring person, goes on with her life, surrounded by loving family and loyal friends. It's what I call karma.

I agree, now that the election's over they think they can get away with pretending they're Centrist Democrats.  They're not fooling anybody, just pissing off a Hell of a lot of Republican voters, and it won't win over any Dems because they'll all vote for a REAL Dem instead of pretend ones.

The WORST possible thing you can do with money is to give it to a blanket source, who then "disburses" it according to perceived need, when in reality they are giving it to whomever they damn well please, including NOT giving it to their potential primary opponent.

So I say, let's ENCOURAGE them to do this!! Follow the money and follow the results, and you will most probably find DNC-endorsed candidates do far worse than non-endorsed candidates in competitive races. (I don't count 94% Dem districts as part of the equation.)
