Thanks to our esteemed member HAPPY2BME for finding this, and putting it in "General Discussion" here, but as the primitives never go outside the DUmpster to get illuminated, necessity demands it be cross-posted posted here too.

NYT says Trump Could Put Ted Cruz on Supreme Court, Dems Can’t Stop it

Quote
Senate Democrats are playing with fire by not coming out and giving Neil Gorsuch the votes he needs to be confirmed to the United States Supreme Court.

A reporter for the New York Times, Jeremy Peters, appeared on MSNBC on Monday and laid out the potential consequences of the Democrats not playing ball with the Republicans.

NTK Network reported:

“And now the next one, we know, he will have carte blanche,” Peters said. “He could say, ‘You know what? I’m going to nominate Ted Cruz, Democrats, because you screwed around with me last time. You tried to block my nominee who by all accounts did very well in his confirmation hearings, has unquestionable qualifications.’”

Peters said that Democrats’ resistance to Gorsuch was “short-sighted” due to this fact.

He also criticized Democrats for doing away with the filibuster in 2013 for judicial appointments and said they only had themselves to blame for the current situation.

“When the Democrats changed that rule in 2013, they opened the door for this to happen,” Peters said.

Uh huh.

That's the New York Times saying that, folks; the mouthpiece of the ultra-left fringe.

Chuckie and his hoard are pushed against the wall on this.
They have cultivated the insane base of the party to the point that is all that is left and it is not an exaggeration.

I still think the voters of New York committed a crime against humanity back in 1998, when they voted to dump Senator Alphonse D'Amato, one of the most decent men ever to serve in the U.S. Senate, in exchange for this smug clown.

I voted for D'Amato.  This was before I met my wife, but I think that she voted for D'Amato as well.

  • ha ha, charade you are
I don't think Cruz will accept it at this point.
As much as I like Cruz, he is too focused on politics, he likes it too much. He want's to be President.
A USSC seat is his true calling, IMHO, but he has personal aspirations that will prevent it.
IF, by some change all the planets align and he loses his Senate seat in TX, that might become more of an option for him.
Maybe I'm all wrong about this... who knows. But it just seems to me he likes politics far too much to go into the background as a SC justice. He could do far more damage to the left there, we all know it... and for a long time too. But I just don't see it happening.

True, but sadly it wasn't their last atrocity.

:ashamed:  :ashamed:  :ashamed: With Baa-Baa Lee and Mad Maxine in the House and DiFei, Babs Bouncer, and Kammy in the Senate, I'm not going to say much, at this moment at least. :ashamed:  :ashamed:  :ashamed: Chuckles may think he's doing the will of his extreme Prog base, but they'll only see that Gorsuch is a Supreme Court Justice. They won't thank him for trying and he's pooing the Ds' screwch trying to appease them.

As I said in the GD thread, that NYT "reporter" could and should have said more and earlier. That the Ds' would go this stupid and petulant was predictable from November 9, 2016, and that it will have worse consequences for the Ds is equally obvious.

Has anyone else noticed the irony that on one hand DU-folk decry dilutions of pure democracy like states' equal representation in the Senate and the Electoral college, but champion the utterly undemocratic filibuster (which has been used, among many other things, to defend slavery and stymie anti-lynching and Civil Rights legislation)?

(Fixed a typo; clarifications)

The DUmplings certainly have a short memory.
It wasn't to long ago that their lord and savior, Hussein of Three-putt quipped ...

Elections have consequences.
We won, you lost.
Get over it.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

It was even more recent that their heroine, Fauxcahontas, said:

Quote
“If Republicans continue to filibuster these highly qualified nominees for no reason other than to nullify the President’s Constitutional authority, then Senators not only have the right to change the filibuster rules, Senators have a duty to change the filibuster rules

http://ntknetwork.com/elizabeth-warren-wanted-to-nuke-the-filibuster-entirely-in-2012/

Personally, I think McConnell should give that same speech, only changing the name of the political party involved in obstruction, and thank Sen Warren publicly and proudly for providing the correct path to end this obstructionism. In the age of video recordings, hypocrisy like that deserves public shaming.

Dummies will reject that site as fake news.

Here dummies:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/20/us/politics/senate-democrats-consider-move-to-curb-filibusters.html

Won't quote anything in the article due to the NY Times sue happy lawyers.  So I will make my own excerpt:

Dems pissed off cause GOP filibusters 3 judges for important courts. (means libbies need judges on this particular court to get their lib agenda held up in court)    Dems confirmed support was growing for this.  Then they did it.

Well dummies, you got what you wanted so now STFU.

Oh and we got this little gem:

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/harry-reid-if-gop-blocks-scotus-in-2017-dems-should-go-nuclear-again

An excerpt:

Quote
Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said he is confident that he has laid the groundwork for Democrats to nuke the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees if they win back the Senate in November.

Envisioning Hillary Clinton in the White House and Democrats controlling the Senate, Reid warned that if a Senate Republican minority block her Supreme Court nominee, he is confident the party won't hesitate to change the filibuster rules again.

"They mess with the Supreme Court, it'll be changed just like that in my opinion," Reid said, snapping his fingers together. “So I’ve set that up. I feel very comfortable with that.”

Reid has previously warned that a rules change could be coming down the pike if Dems win back the Senate. In an August interview with the New York Times, Reid said that rules changes were possible in 2017 if Republicans continued to use the filibuster to widely block a Democratic agenda in the Senate. But Reid's comments have renewed resonance now that it looks increasingly likely that Clinton will win the presidency and Democrats have a growing chance of taking control back of the Senate.

Reid rule the filibuster forSCOTUS now and the next time it will be a non issue replacing a constitutionalist for a communist/fascist/socialist/progressive.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Well dummies... your side just screwed up big time.  They should have swallowed their pride and went ahead and confirmed Gorsuch.  But noooooo... they just had to filibuster. Now that the trigger has been pulled I am going to say something that I never thought I would say.  I hope ole liberal Ginsburg kicks the bucket soon,  thru natural causes of course... I don't want any nut case out there thinking I condone murder of anyone in any way, shape or form... and Trump nominates the most ideological conservative activist judge out there.  And said judge gets confirmed. That will show you dumbasses that our side can play hard ball as well.

You idiots started it, now live with your ill thought out actions.
