the tax returns reveal virtually nothing we didn't already know.
ok, he's a beneficiary of amt. not sure that's news or not, there are certainly plenty of loopholes he takes advantage of.

but he wins:
(a) it makes the whole tax issue look like there's no "there there" even if there is all kinds of crap lurking elsewhere in his various returns;
(b) it distracts from other issues like russia;
(c) it allows him to claim that "they do it too" when it comes to using contraband information. even if rachel and other actually acquired it legally, it allows him to pretend otherwise.

much as i was hoping for a win for us here, sadly, donnie won this round.

I'm about 99.99999% sure that he did.  The stamped "Client Copy" on the copy that Maddow had is the key.  Because of this, and the other circumstances around the whole thing, I am led to believe that President Trump, or someone acting on the orders of President Trump, sent the copies of the returns to a reporter whom they knew would get the copies into the 'proper' hands.  Said 'team of journalists' bit the lure, and took it all the way to swallowing the proverbial fishing boat.  When you look at the whole affair objectively, Team Trump hoped for the reaction that they got from Maddow's Morons, but they probably didn't think that it would go this well.
