While House Republicans languished in the wilderness during Barack Obama’s two terms,
they passed bill after bill to defund, repeal and dismantle Obamacare. They were completely useless and symbolic gestures which did little other than somewhat mollify constituents back at home, frustrated by t
he apparent impotence of their elected representatives.
Ultimately, this impotence ended the tenure of Boehner as Speaker.
In his place, we got Paul Ryan and after Donald Trump’s win in November, we thought FINALLY we’d be able to make some big changes, particularly since the president himself saw killing Obamacare as a key campaign promise.
Well, it was HIS promise,
but apparently not that of the GOP.You ready for a bucket of ice cold water? Here it is.
The Hill reports, Former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday that a full repeal and replacement of ObamaCare is “not going to happen.”
Instead, Boehner said at a healthcare conference in Florida that Republicans will end up making smaller changes to the law.
“[Congressional Republicans are] going to fix Obamacare — I shouldn’t call it repeal-and-replace, because it’s not going to happen,” Boehner said, according to Politico.
