Hey! I just realized something. Do you know who we haven't heard from regarding this whole
 
Flynn thing? Nadin Bresinski. Remember her? She is/was our resident DI/DU expert on everything. She was a brain surgeon, nuclear physicist, meteorologist, political scientist, journalist, paramedic, janitor, fry cook, and an all around Jack/Jill of all trades.

I'm going out for a 15 mile run this morning. If you see or hear from her be sure to link to it so I can see it.

You know what drives me nuts about DU Jr.?

Most comments there, including original topics, are one-sentence posts.

A paragraph on DU Jr.'s about as common as a Republican in Rhode Island, or a good-looking woman on Skins's island.

One can't be insightful, informative, or illuminative in just a single sentence; usually five or six long paragraphs is the minimum necessary.

It's not worth OUR trouble to post more than a sentence, because they don't understand the replies anyway.

The problem with threads full of only one-sentence, one-phrase, comments is that one never figures out what they're talking about.

There's false advertising here, too; all those really inviting, really provocative, subject lines promising much illumination, but when one goes through all the time and trouble of opening a thread, one gets pretty much as what I made up, above.

They are a perfect example of people that think they are so smart they can`t help be stupid.

I think the buzzy one is missing his calling, ignoring where his real talents lie.

He perhaps thinks otherwise, but really, he's shallow and superficial in his politics and understanding of them.  It's kind of like Madonna or Ruth Bader Ginsberg as an arbiter of architectural taste.

However, think of it.

The buzzy one sprung into being and life on the concrete sidewalks of New Jersey.....and ended up making an eminently notable career of soil science.

"Dirt" may sound as if a slight, trivial thing, but actually dirt is pretty important; without dirt, ain't any of us gonna live.  We got to have dirt.

I was born and raised in Nebraska, which has more dirt than people; it's full of dirt here.  I don't know shit about dirt.  Not that I don't think it's important; on the contrary, I think it's very important.

At least I can say for myself that I respect dirt, recognize its importance.  But of course without really understanding it.  To franksolich, dirt is like God; it's a case of not knowing exactly what something is, but appreciating it nonetheless, respecting it, honoring it.

I suspect that's why franksolich always thought rather highly of the buzzy one, while Carl didn't necessarily so.  The latter was paying attention to the buzzy one's politics and nothing else about him, while I was paying attention to everything about him but his politics, which I'd long ago dismissed as the silly side of his nature.

We're all silly in one thing or another; it's human.  But it's good to not take the silly sides of people seriously, such as the manner in which I seek to offend real-life primitives spending the night here.

As for the buzzy one, I knew from the beginning, I knew from when he was here as "Night Owl" or "Nite Owl" or whatever, in the very early days of conservativecave, that his politics were shallow.  I always had the impression that when it comes to politics, the buzzy one just apes, mimics, what's cool, what's hip, what's trendy, what's with-it.  Popular sentiment (as expressed by people he likes, not the true popular sentiment) is his guide, not his original thinking.

That's being silly, so I always just ignored that aspect of him.

I could never figure out why the cousin never seemed to get along with anybody.

The cousin is undeniably bright and perhaps has some special skills and talents; she really needs to be out in the world (rather than secluded in an apartment in a congested city) among lots and lots of other people, getting along with them.

All it would take on the cousin's part is the admission to herself--she doesn't have to do it publicly, she can do it in her heart--that she's not as good as she thinks she is.

That's it.  Nothing more than that.

With a few exceptions--I'm thinking of Lamond, the MrsCorpio primitive, or the insufferable FORD on DU Jr., or the squalid greasy Omaha Steve on Manny's message board--all the rest of us seem to find it easy to accept that blunt fact about each of ourselves. 

Why the cousin has a problem with it, only God knows.

The problem is this . . . Nadin thinks that it is God.  How do we know that, you might ask . . . It's all in the "cousin's" attitude towards anyone who dares to challenge any assertion made by the "cousin."

no. i just checked, he has no hides. he doesn't start a lot of threads, he just comments in existing threads. bottom line, Buzzy is a DUer: logical reasons is not something one can expect.
