Donald Trump's presidency 'likely to be second shortest in history', says presidential historian

Author predicts the US leader will last between 31 days and 199

Donald Trump’s presidency is likely to be the second shortest ever, a leading historian and author has claimed.

Professor Ronald L Feinman predicted that the former reality TV star will stay in the top job “between the 31 days of William Henry Harrison in 1841”, who died pneumonia and the “199 days of James A. Garfield in 1881”, who died 79 days after he was shot by an assassin “after terrible suffering and medical malpractice”.

Even if his time in office is “dragged out”, Professor Feinman predicted that Mr Trump is unlikely to last the 16 months and 5 days of 12th president Zachary Taylor, who died of a digestive ailment while Head of State in 1850.

The 20th century American history professor, who recently published a book about the unfortunate fates of US leaders, added that he thought the “Pence Presidency” was inevitable. He was referring to Mr Trump’s Vice President, Mike Pence, who would take over if Mr Trump was to leave the leadership.

4. I've heard lots of speculation on how long he will stay

Most in my circle of friends think it will be less than 6 months.  Hard to say, he might surprise us and stay longer.  I don’t look forward to president Pence but it’s a long 4 years either way.

5. Las Vegas odds of a Trump impeachment are

The odds of a Trump impeachment in 2017 are currently sitting at 4/1.

If he makes it through his first year in the White House, however, it seems the likelihood that Trump will last a full four years will jump considerably.

The odds of a Trump’s impeachment in 2018 are currently at 9/1.

In 2019, they’re 16/1 in 2019 and they’re at a whopping 20/1 in the year 2020.

8. The republican House is going to impeach him? And 2/3 of the republican Senate

is going to convict him? Not really likely.

I’ve got some spare change to bet those two things do not happen.

10. They will once he signs off on their legislation & the mid-term campaigns start

…. by then they’ll have the safety net & most civil rights / legal protections gutted. They know Pence will continue to bless their Pro-Koch/Evangelist philosophies, and tRump becomes a giant “campaign” albatross.

13. I don't think he'll be impeached

If he leaves early I think it will be because he quits.

Prog DU/DI folk still cherish these fantasies. Amazing.

The chance that Trump will resign? Zero.

The chance that Trump will be declared unfit under the 25th Amendment? Zero.

The chance that Trump will be impeached and voted out of office? There will be conformed sightings of squadrons of porcine aviators before that happens.

The chance that Trump will be elected to a second term? High, and increasing.

Could be more when Trump stops presidential elections.
