"Texas jury convicts Mexican woman of illegal voting" - 8 year sentence + $8000 fine

A Tarrant County jury on Thursday sentenced a Mexican woman to eight years in jail a day after convicting her of two counts of illegal voting by a non-citizen. She will also have to pay an $8,000 fine.
During the trial, prosecutors showed that Rosa Maria Ortega -- a 37-year-old Mexican national who public records show has lived in the Dallas area since she was 15 -- falsely claimed U.S. citizenship on a voter registration form and voted five times between 2004 and 2014, according to a news release from the state attorney general's office.

Ortega testified in court on Wednesday that when she voted she did not understand the difference between rights accorded to citizens and legal residents, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
"I didn't have the study, the guidance, the education," Ortega testified. The Star-Telegram reported that she told jurors she thought state officials would tell her if she was not allowed to vote. However, the Tarrant County voter registration form clearly states that non-citizens should not register to vote.

8 years! A little harsh!

I love the part where she cliams she didn't know about the difference between a citizen and an illegal yet she lied on forms to say she was a citizen in order to vote.  :rotf:

1. Only 2 counts?

Clinton received 3 million more votes than Trump. This woman only accounts for 2 of them.

I guess Trump was right about illegals voting then, eh?

2. Let cities decide who vote

We have a precedent for cities allowing all immigrants, no matter their citizenship status, to vote in non-federal elections. We should be finding out how to get every large city with immigrants to pass such a law to prevent Trump and the GOP from arresting individuals and splitting up their families.

You are saying exactly what Trump has been claiming. You understand that, right?

4. I guess the trumpsters are going to run with this!

There is so much wrong here. How much time and effort was put into finding this ONE person? If a person lives here and is paying taxes, they should have some rights to vote here. And EIGHT years and $8000? That is way overboard. At most I would say community service, since it sounds like she honestly did not know. But I kind of doubt this ONE woman voting 5 times in 10 years made any difference.
Hacking seems like much more the problem in voting issues. How much time and money is spent on finding out those problems?

This is just one woman!

yeah--- only one. we still have to catch and deport 299,000,000 more.

for a start.

Well, yeah! We aren't stoooopid enough to deny that illegals voted, and then when one is convicted, try to pretend the one convicted is unique. But fine, let's see how your "reasoning" can be applied:

How much time and effort was put into finding ONE murderer?

How much time and effort was put into finding ONE rapist?

How much time and effort was put into finding ONE thief?

How much time and effort was put into finding ONE scam artist?

How much time and effort was put into finding ONE identity thief?

The value of getting a criminal out of social circulation is not how much their detection and eviction cost, but how much it would cost society if they continued committing crimes and how much it would cost if that type of crime proliferated due to non-enforcement.

Here's another one DUchebag...

URBANA — A Mexican national who has lived in Urbana since 2005, allegedly using a stolen identity, was arraigned Thursday on seven federal counts, including four related to voting by an illegal immigrant.

Miguel Valencia-Sandoval, 33, who allegedly had been using the identity of a Texas man named Ramiro G. Vasquez, pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Eric Long at U.S. District Court in Urbana.
...
The affidavit also noted that "fingerprint queries" showed that Valencia-Sandoval had twice before been "encountered" by authorities — it didn't say where or when — without having been arrested.

The indictment alleges that Valencia-Sandoval made a false statement of U.S. citizenship on a passport application in April 2012. Another charge alleges he made a false claim of citizenship in order to vote in an election. Two felony charges of aggravated identity theft, one for using Vasquez's identity to get a passport and another for using the identity to vote in an election, were part of the indictment.

Lastly, he was charged with three misdemeanor counts of voting in an election by an illegal immigrant, for having voted in general elections in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

As time goes by, we will be hearing more and more cases of illegals voting.  This will help bolster Trump implementing a National Voter ID law.

There is so much wrong here. How much time and effort was put into finding this ONE person? We either a nation of laws or we are not. If a person lives here and is paying taxes, they should have some rights to vote here. Not if they are not legal Citizens.   And EIGHT years and $8000? That is way overboard. At most I would say community service, since it sounds like she honestly did not know. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.  If we had a Voter ID law, she would have been turned away at the polling place and then she would have definitely known that voting is a no-no for illegals But I kind of doubt this ONE woman voting 5 times in 10 years made any difference. If her one illegal vote nullified my one legal vote, it makes a huge difference.
Hacking seems like much more the problem in voting issues. How much time and money is spent on finding out those problems?  ah, back to "the Russians hacked the election" false flag.

From the article DLR P linked:

Quote
Sessions vowed to uphold immigration laws that he claimed went largely unenforced during the Obama administration. "We need to end this lawlessness that threatens the public's safety, pulls down wages of working Americans," he said. "If you continually go through a cycle of amnesty (for the undocumented), you undermine the respect for the law and encourage more illegal immigration into America."

MEDIA AND DONKS (BIRM): We need to investigate the Russian hacks into the election!!
PDT: Ok we will start investigations into election fraud.
MEDIA AND DONKS (BIRM): NO!!!!!!  There is no election fraud.
PDT: You asked for it good and hard and that's what you are going to get.
MEDIA AND DONKS (BIRM): Trump is a racist.

What Libs & Progs fear - not their only fear in this (losing votes is another, :fuelfire: ), just one of their greater fears - is that the deportations of lawbreakers could reach a sort of critical mass, at which time many illegals will self-deport. As those advocating enforcement of our immigration laws have predicted would happen.
