Bruce Springsteen is 'embarrassed' to be an American
« on: February 04, 2017, 11:40:56 AM »
Bruce Springsteen, a once proud American with his song “Born in the USA” said at a concert in Australia he’s embarrassed to be an American.

The 67-year-old addressed the crowd as “embarrassed Americans” referring to President Trump in the White House in a newly-surfaced clip from his show in Melbourne Monday night.

He sang a cover of “Don’t Hang Up” mocking Trump’s phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

He said, “We stand before you embarrassed Americans. This is a song from 1965 by The Orlons and we’re going to use it to send a letter back home.”

Springsteen also announced his band is a part of the resistance against the Trump administration.

Slamming the President of the US worked so well for the Ditzy Tricks! Course, I'm not sure Springsteen gets much radio play these days, unlike the Tricks back when they spouted off in London. Springsteen is kind of stuck between being currently relevant - which he isn't quite anymore - and the oldies tour circuit. This might push him into that latter bracket.

FWIW, I've never been a fan or disliker of Springsteen. His image, to me, seemed greater than his significance, but I've felt that way about the post-mid-70s Rolling Stones. So what do I know?

I've been a Springsteen fan in the past.

Gone now.  Haven't bought an album of his since The Rising in 2002, and haven't seen him in concert since 2007.

BTW--"Born In The USA" was written about the shitty treatment of Vietnam-era vets.  It's an angry song.

"All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don't sit looking at it - walk!" -Ayn Rand
