Scientists march!
« on: January 25, 2017, 04:49:02 AM »
They might be marching for the mysterious data referenced in another thread. It seems scientists are donning pink hats and marching across the country.

What is the Scientists' March on Washington
Welcome! We want to thank you all for your incredible outpouring of support for this march. We are working to schedule a March for Science on DC and across the United States. We have not settled on a date yet but will do so as quickly as possible and announce it here.

Although this will start with a march, we hope to use this as a starting point to take a stand for science in politics. Slashing funding and restricting scientists from communicating their findings (from tax-funded research!) with the public is absurd and cannot be allowed to stand as policy. This is a non-partisan issue that reaches far beyond people in the STEM fields and should concern anyone who believes in empirical research and science.

There are certain things that we accept as facts with no alternatives. The Earth is becoming warmer due to human action. The diversity of life arose by evolution. The plural of anecdote is not data. Politicians who devalue expertise risk making decisions that do not reflect reality and must be held accountable. An American government that ignores science to pursue ideological agendas endangers the world.
This one provides info.

It's criminal not to.

Maybe I'll be able to go to this one. Or help lead/organize a march in Glacier National Park, which would be PERFECT.
This one enlisted also!

15. I will definitely participate if there's a march near me!

I assume that Columbus, OH could generate many marchers, among other Ohio cities.
This one hopes the march comes through Toledo Ohio!

Ms. Maru just wants a vacation trip to Glacier National Park, which admittedly is a very nice place. She would end up at 1% organizing and marching and 99% vacationing and being a tourist...

Will they accept the scientists that believe human life begins at conception?  :whistling:

Did any of you happen to catch the un-edited first run of this article?

It was floating around Twitter yesterday, but the Atlantic has since changed the headline and some of the content.

When Harry Truman was President of the United States, he had a sign on his desk in the White House that said: "The buck stops here." If Barack Obama had a sign on his desk, it would say: "The buck stops with Bush." - Thomas Sowell

Having an AA degree in womyns/black/hispanic/.... studies does NOT make you a scientist. Although 95% of the 95% of scientists that believe in AGW have that very type of advanced degree.

BTW, CNN has quietly released the photo of the inauguration crowd right before trump came out and not the one three hours before. All estimates say larger than Obama in 09. Put that in your cooch and smoke ***** rioters!

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

IOW there's a whole bunch of scientist who admit that politics has influenced their "science" and want to demonstrate that politicalization by "marching on D.C." I think it's wonderful when these groups demonstrate the leverage politics has on their viewpoints, especially when they've been denying that's the case for years and years. Makes our job a whole lot easier.

Exactly.  They've maintained for years that they're not political in their views; yet this "march" confirms exactly that.

Trump "marched on Washington" and got the keys to the White House.

Trump dissenters No. 1, if I remember correctly, marched on Washington and got glass shards in them from their breaking of store front glass. I think they may have even got some smoke inhalation as they destroyed the environment by torching a car.

Trump dissenters No. 2, if I remember correctly, marched on Washington and got laughed at by normal people for wearing stupid and idiotic hats.

Now we have Trump dissenters No. 3 having a go of it. They must be either (1) giving out some pretty good participation trophies (2) very stupid losers out there. And how can so many people be marching if the unemployment is at such a magically low number?

Oh, did I mention to the Democrat Party that Trump has the keys to the White House...and a pen...and a phone.
