I'm glad I was married and living my own life at 19.  No bubble wrap for me.

I was married and raising my oldest kid at 19.  However, my mother was still calling me about severe storms in my area 20 years later...when I was a single mom with 5 kids, 4 dogs, 2 cars and a house.   ::)  She didn't stop until I remarried Mr Smith.   :-)

Now, when my kids complain about me, I just hold Nana's record up to them, and they  ::) and shut-up.

I don't feel so bad now.....I have been known to call my son when he was in the Navy, stationed in Everett and tell him the roads were bad and to be careful driving. Ummmm...it was last winter and he was 26.

Now that he's in Nebraska.....I call about the tornado warnings.

I just know he's rolling his eyes as he says "yes Mom....I'll be careful"....and then the he does one of these :mental:.....but he then he tells me he loves me and not to worry.... :-)
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

I'd say he is happy to have a mom that gives a crap.  I'm sure there are many "mothers" out there that once they leave their house they are done raising them.

Congrats to him and you and your husband as parents.

Big change from Texas. Thank God for unlimited cell phone minutes and nationwide calling!

I'm heading back up there the end of the month for my neice's wedding. She works for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

2nd year!!??! Oh my! Time flies.....
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Just found out how much the tow truck cost.....$500.  He had him drive them the whole way to just outside of Cleveland.  One good note, Larry (the tow truck driver) is definitely a Republican according to my husband.   :p

$500!!

I had a truck hauled from Charlotte, NC to Raleigh (a four-hour drive) for $250 less than ten years ago.  Prices, sure have gone up.

He told him $75 for the call and $4 per MILE.  You also have to pay for the trip back for the tow truck driver (or maybe that was what the $4 per mile charge included).  I think he actually gave him a small break.  After tax it was $487.00 We still haven't even gotten the friggen car fixed yet.   :censored:

Yikes!

Thank god getting my cello all fixed up isn't like a car at all.  I already know how much that's going to cost me.  *phew*

And most importantly, thank god I work at a dealership.

It's very expensive.  $50 for the pick up, $10 each mile for delivery.  :p

You could have probably hooked up a tow dolly to a taxicab and paid less than that.  That's outrageous.

You're probably looking in the neighborhood of $500 to fix the timing belt, IF it didn't mess up anything else when it broke.

You bastard bearer of bad news.   :p

Have they said about if there's any other damage?   When is he's going to get his car back?   Are they using good parts?

Kevin said the shop was immaculate and had several VW's & Audi in the shop at the time.  We still don't know what exactly is wrong with it. Kevin asked about getting a new console because Andrew's was cracked and the guy said it would be better to go to a salvage yard and get one from there.  So he didn't try to screw us on that end.  We will just have to keep our fingers crossed.

At least there were VW and Audi in there too, that's a good sign.  You know, Andrew can always order parts from us and have them shipped.   :uhsure:

Bullshirt!  Anything can be fixed!  We once had a second car that went to hell just like yours.  All we had to do was jack up the radiator cap and stick a new car under it.  It was good to go.
