For that matter, it's no bargain here in Düsseldorf, either, but with the Euro down to $1.06, and me still being paid in dollars, it's been easier of late, except for the German wanting to ignore the double taxation treaty and trying to tax income that gets taxed at the source in the States (39.6% at home and another 50% here, leaving me with about 9.8% left over). Plus, I can't retire even if I wanted to, since I did a Roth conversion on my IRA before I moved here and paid the taxes on it already in the States. The Germans want to tax me again on that, too, even though the double taxation treaty says they can't. Apparently, some of their "Beamten" haven't heard that "Enteignung" is no longer part of the official program here.
