Oh my.

Please God, let it be so that the results of this very minor election in an obscure area of England be a trend-setter.  It sort of freaks me, though, how the conservative femme candidate looks like a bitter angry women's-libber, and the liberal [i.e., Labour] candidate's an.....old white guy.  Talk about blowing away stereotypes.

Sleaford and North Hykeham by-election: Dr Caroline Johnson holds seat for Tories as Labour heads towards 'electoral disaster'

A senior Labour MP has warned his party is heading for "electoral disaster" after the Conservatives stormed to victory in the Sleaford and North Hykeham by-election.

Ukip emerged as the runner-up to the Tory candidate Caroline Johnson, who will be the new MP after winning a landslide 17,570 votes. Ukip's Victoria Ayling secured just 4,426.

Labour fell from second place at the 2015 general election to fourth with only 3,300 votes, behind the Liberal Democrats who pulled in 3,600......

.....In her acceptance speech, Dr Johnson said: "I look forward to strengthening the Government's majority in Parliament so Theresa May, our Prime Minister, can get on with the job of triggering Article 50, leaving the European Union and building a country and economy that works for everyone.".....

Who is Caroline Johnson?

Dr Johnson is a consultant paediatrician who lives just outside Sleaford, in Sudbrook, with her husband and their three children. She has campaigned for the Lincolnshire seat on a promise to improve local congestion and introduce high-speed broadband to the area. The 38-year-old also stood unsuccessfully for election in S****horpe in 2010.

Quote
Her husband Nik is a local farmer in the area and small businessman and she has highlighted her interest in helping small businesses during her campaign. She said: “I care passionately about this area because it is my home too. I am looking forward to campaigning right across the constituency and hearing your views on the important local issues.

“Our local area and communities across Sleaford and North Hykeham deserve a strong voice in Parliament and a true local champion.”

UKIPs are a distant second, but they still beat both Labour and the Lib-Dems?  Wow.  That's gotta scare the pants off of the Left in the UK.  And it just tickles me to death.  I love seeing the UKIPs advancing along.  They're the closest thing that there is to Margaret Thatcher in that country anymore.
