SF bracing in case Trump cuts federal funds over sanctuary status
Quote
Mayor Ed Lee and San Francisco politicians are bracing for what President-elect Donald Trump lists as one of his main priorities: blocking “all federal funding” for sanctuary cities.

Hundreds of cities around the country have sanctuary policies, which broadly means local officials limit their cooperation with federal immigration authorities to turn over immigrants living in the country without documentation. The scope and degree of those policies vary, and San Francisco has some of the most stringent noncompliance policies in the country.

Should Trump follow through on his stated intention, it could have a major and immediate impact on the city of San Francisco, which receives around $1 billion annually from the federal government, according to city Controller Ben Rosenfield.

Of that money, $478 million comes directly from the federal government. The balance comes from the federal government via the state of California. The city’s current budget is $9.6 billion.

City officials are making contingency plans in case that money disappears.

Suck it, Liberals.

So wait... You can't just do things that are illegal, and not get paid for it?

I think I need to go to my safe space.

Let`s see...one tenth of one citys budget is derived from the taxpayers of the country who are struggling to make ends meet and they wonder why Trump won.

Trump has my blessings.  The way things have been going the schools would have been required to teach spanish first and english as a second language.

Speaking from the perspective of living some 50 miles south of SF, I hope Trump cuts SF off!

The SF area is a beautiful area - natural beauty, architecture, museums, history, and more. On a more personal level, there are a LOT of  races run in and about SF and on the Marin Peninsula, just north of the Golden Gate (getting to Marin would entail driving through SF and crossing the Golden Gate Bridge). I avoid SF as much as possible. Part of that avoidance is the lunacy of driving and parking in SF (I'll take BART from Millbrae and walk 2 or 3 miles in SF rather than try to drive there!). Another part is the way Lib/Prog governance has made SF a SEWER. It is literally so bad that escalators from BART stations have to be repaired with some frequency due to the urinary and fecal "gifts" deposited in them by the sacred homeless (who will suddenly become a national crisis on January 20, 2017).

There are several major half marathons (1000s of runners in each) run in SF every year, and I don't know how many other smaller events. Obviously, they are run in Golden Gate Park, The Presidio, Crissy Field, along the Great Highway (ocean beaches), and crossing the GGB, not in the Tenderloin or Hunters Point. There's a lot I could enjoy in those races, but the only one I've done was in 2013, and it was a gift from my son (who also ran in it). I don't foresee doing another race in SF any time soon.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

$1 billion dollars could pay for a lot of beefed up security on our southern border.  Just sayin...

Beat me to it. Just a year from SF could build a hundred miles.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Times that by several cities and guess what? You talking some serious coin that could be used to fund other things. Like a wall on the southern border. Like some deportations of illegals.   :yahoo:
