rurallib (42,527 posts) Mon Oct 31, 2016, 09:28 PMtrick or treat was quite a downer this yearour clientele has been steadily dropping over the years. This year almost nothing - maybe 25 or so.We live in a small midwestern town. When our kids were young our street was the street to hit. 25 years later and we have almost no kids on Halloween. We closed up early and went to see where everyone was. They were in the new part of town. There is also a new wrinkle - a 'trunk or treat' kind of thing that takes place before the official t-or-t time. It is a treat trail. We will probably head up there next year.My neighbor has been here @ as long as we have. The lack of trickers really had him and his wife bummed out. He wasn't too wild about the treat trail, but said they may go that way next year also.Got a hell of a lot of candy left - big bars all. The last kids that came up got a real treat.

The Velveteen Ocelot (46,799 posts) Mon Oct 31, 2016, 09:35 PM3. Lots of kids last year; only 6 or 7 so far this year. The weather might have something to do with it - it's not especially cold but it's damp and drizzly, not fun T or T weather. But anyhow I have a ridiculous amount of candy. I'll eat the Almond Joys and try to give away the rest.
Laffy Kat (3,656 posts) Mon Oct 31, 2016, 09:49 PM6. Way down this year for me, too. It's not quiet 8:00 yet, but I'd say we've had half the number of last year. I had a feeling and didn't buy much candy this time and I still have some left. As much as I love our little goblins, I have noticed the kids being a little ruder, too. One child, around five years old asked, "Is that all?" and another told me he only wanted Skittles and grabbed a package right out of the bowl I was holding(!) In MY DAY we were grateful for anything and ALWAYS said thank you. Little boogers.

The parents probably saw the Hillary signs in their yards and .
The smart parents also check the local sex offender registry.

The really smart and prepared ones registered here, posted a thousand, "Yeah thats" and consulted our Sandhills forum. Being prepared combined with entertainment.
At my posting rate my kids will be out of college before I get to see behind that curtain
