Hubs let him pull in. We're trapped in extremely slow moving traffic, almost standstill for 30 mins.

Guy pulled in from the shoulder lane. Did not wait his turn in line.

Got his plate #.

What should we do? Cannot pull over to evaluate but know the car must have bad scratch & perhaps indention.

I had an accident a few years ago and the douchebag that hit me tried to make it look like it my fault, hired a lawyer and attempted to sue me and made my life a living hell for the year after it happened. And the really ****ed up thing? There was far more damage to my car than there was to his car. Thankfully it never reached court and got caught up in insurance arbitration. And the insurance ruled that it was a double fault accident. But the rule is don't let the police leave the scene without getting your side of the story.

The funny thing is that there was far more damage to my car than there ever was to his car (his Suburban vs. my Altima - who wins?), and this guy had the nerve to lie to the insurance company and stage a faulty injury claim when the police report made it clear there weren't any injuries.

5. Probably too late, but I agree with the 911
 
I was once hit near my rear tire by the front bumper of a semi. It was snowing heavily and cars were moving less than a mile an hour. The jerk driving the truck decided that he wasn't going to wait his turn where two lanes were merging. He didn't stop, so I called 911 and followed him. The 911 operator was irritated that I couldn't give her a mile marker, but it was a full ten minutes before we passed one - she couldn't seem to understand how slowly we were moving.

Eventually, a highway patrol met us at the next on ramp and took the report. It wound up being my insurance covered me, and his lack of insurance hopefully bit him on the ass hard. Not much damage to his truck, but the officer told me that he was getting cited for lack of insurance.

Your story reminds me of how much some of these 911 operators and dispatchers need more training---or IQ tests. 

Our insurance company has been contacted. Damage was more than we expected. It was a military kid, with an obvious abundance of testosterone , in a hyped up Camray. No doubt who he's voting for.

I got sideswiped by another driver who wasn't paying attention (and she admitted as much in a text message that she sent me, thankfully).

Despite that, she later changed her story and attempted to weasel out of it. The claims adjuster on my file was useless. The process dragged on for five months. Finally a different claims adjuster took over and it was resolved in my favor within a matter of one week (and the text message was relevant after all).

And the cost of damages for even minor damage can escalate quickly. It's crazy how expensive plastic parts of a car can be.

So DUches are all against the police until they need them even for the most trivial of things.

911 is for REAL EMERGENCIES. My guess is the 911 operator will tell the DUmbass to FOAD.

That post exemplifies what losers most posters at DU are.

Why in the world would you post such a query on a political forum on the internet?  Is your real life social circle that small??  If so, have you questioned yourself as to "why"?

Normal folks would handle these types of situations on their own, but may phone a phone a friend, parent, sibling, neighbor, offspring, etc. if needed, not post on a internet forum.  Ridiculous.

Got his plate #. I'm really surprised that while getting the plate you didn't notice at least 2 Trump Pence 2016 stickers on the "merging bullies" car

What should we do? Continue driving.  Work your way to the right hand lane, nearest the shoulder.  When you come across an exceptionally high over pass and are at mid span, cut the steering wheel hard to the right and press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and don't let up. Cannot pull over to evaluate but know the car must have bad scratch & perhaps indention.
