4. Fear is way more important than reality of a non-existential threat, I learned in 1958
When I watched my elementary school class go unhinged when a hornet was noticed flying around a ceiling light.
The teacher screamed and kids ended up falling down the stairs in the rush to leave the building.
The dude/dudette has been here since 1628 and was
still in elementary school in 1958? Must not be very bright.

Unlike that hornet, the bombs Muslim terrorists use are "existential threats" to those in the vicinity when they go off. And while
StupidSince1628 might be able to avoid being in said vicinity for the next 10or 20 or ?? years before (s)he dies a natural death (s)he would find a society disrupted by frequent terrorist acts rather unpleasant. And who knows? Maybe some terrorist will get "lucky" and take out
StupidSince1628 despite his/her precautions (San Bernardino and UC Merced aren't exactly the bright center of the universe, nor even of CA).
