well, they finally got Jack...

For the longest time our landlord has been attempting to sell the property we live in, a duplex in Seattle. After months of silence, we finally heard his progress: In the form of an eviction notice from the new owner. He issued us three notices, for 'each resident' including our 15 year old son. He appeared unaware that the unit he intended to occupy currently housed a family with no intention of moving, and no inkling that a sale was eminent, let alone an eviction. I get his position, I loathe our landlord for selling it out from under us, and though I'm trying to maintain a pragmatic cheeriness, I'm not looking at a lot of hope with rental costs being what they are. We make about 3k a month, in part due to medical collections (yay, cancer history), subsequently our prospects aren't great, and my credit is less than stellar.
Not sure why I shared this here, I suppose looking for some kind of hope in my wee-hours darkness. Wish us luck, but I don't think I'm long for being able to post, let alone live with any kind of security.

Welcome to the wonderful world of rent control, maybe? It keeps your rent down while you're in a place, but if you have to find a new place after a long occupancy you learn about market rates, suddenly.

So their previous landlord had been actively trying to sell the property, and yet this Dummy states that they had no idea that a sale was imminent and that they had no intention of moving out?  Very shortsighted Jack, very shortsighted.  Also, you loathe your landlord to daring to sell his own property?

Average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment in Seattle is over $2000, 35 miles south in Tacoma rent averages just over $1000 for a two bedroom apartment.  Why on earth are you living in Seattle with a salary of $3000 a month?  Move out of Seattle and either take public transportation to your job or find a new job elsewhere.  Heck, you could move to Bremerton and take the ferry to Seattle for work.  You had months to figure something out, you only have yourself to blame for your short timeframe now.

Interesting how the DUmmies take a dim view of property rights, except when they find an advantageous spot to squat. Then not only are property rights supreme, but squatting rights are even more preferred. Pack your shit and get out, DUmbass.

Even then, approval is only forthcoming when the occupiers share (D)Ummie ideology.

Would seem to me that if you are living in a rental, the fact that you may be evicted is constant, kinda like having a job, you can always lose it.  One shouldn't live without a backup plan.

Here is a suggestion for the primitive, try and apply as a refugee with the new owner and please keep us posted on the progress of your refugee claim/status.  :fuelfire:

Seattle? Yep one of those bastions of conservative political control. Those GD republicans making environmental laws and regulations that drive up property values and rents. Bet they also pushed high minimum wage laws to destroy jobs and small business....WAIT, WHAT?

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
