Final Iowa Recap from ground zero, Groundhog Day edition
« on: February 02, 2016, 01:00:37 PM »
My last recap before I take a little respite from politics.  Shall still pop in from time to time, but will be back in full force certainly next Tuesday for New Hampshire.

Share the same caucus site with my mother, as well as about a dozen close golf friends.  Arrived about 6:20, long line to get in.  Had to have a picture ID and sign in if you truly were a registered Republican.  Take that, lurking DUmp circus clowns!!!  Sat in a row next to Mom & a dear friend's wife.  Rest of row were mostly my nearly lifelong golf/country club friends.

The caucus chair declared order at 7:01.  Outside doors were then locked.  Overflow crowd.  Chair passed the microphone to the mayor of my suburb.  One of the largest of Des Moines.  We all stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

In alphabetical order, each candidate was allotted for a representative up to 3 minutes to speak on their behalf.  As I recall, only speakers who stood up were for 7 people: Bush, Cruz, Huckabee, Paul, Rubio, Santorum & Trump.  Very polite & enthusiastic applause for each.

It was announced precisely how many ballots would be handed out.  We all wrote down our choice & submitted.  Count matched exactly.  Waited for tabulation, all done at the front of the stage as reps for candidates were allowed to observe.

The results were announced, and no one got "butt-hurt".  ZERO shenanigans, even the crap I heard about afterwards about dirty emails from the Cruz campaign & the apparently Hillary chickanery.  At that point, the state platform was to be hashed out.  We were all excused to leave, as probably 80% did.

Done by 8:20.

Thank you for indulging me.  I take this process very seriously and it was a great pleasure to do my civic duty.

I'm waiting for some DUmmy to post this at the DUmp as a conservative bouncy.

Good thing you suggested it. I doubt they have the collective consciousness and creativity to come up with that idea on their own.

Don't keep us in suspense. Who won the coin toss?

No coin tosses necessary.  Our results were Cruz #1, Trump #2,  Rubio #3.  Much smaller votes for the other candidates.

And from a different precinct caucus in the same suburb, heard from my longtime high school friend that Rubio won there.
