Then there was being a teenager and sneaking beer in. Or some people did that, so I've heard.  :-)

We used to sneak Riunite wine into the theaters. :whistling:

I don't like the model either. but it is what it is.

They are required to make some exceptions, like if you have an allergy to all they sale or you could not eat it for medical reasons. Then the ADA gets to be at play. I actually carry a letter from my doctor becuase of that.

Maybe coach franksolich's cousin nadin is writing an updated english language dictionary.
She also seems to have misplaced her closed parenthesis.
I could write it off as typical nadin typos, but she purports to be far too intelligent for that.

I can't believe that Tammywammy attempted to argue back and forth with Nadin.  What a waste of time.  Nads is going to insist that sneaking in your own stuff is THEFT dammit, and that's that.

I went to see First Blood with a bunch of guys, and we snuck in beers.  I felt like such a renegade.   :lmao:  It was a great time.

Yea, running through the lines of cars, past people who were, ahem, doing what they were doing, and we were oblivious to everything. We had popcorn, with lots of butter. That's all that mattered.

Anyone remember the original "Pic" bug repellent coils that you purchased in the concession stand?

We had to use them often, usually placed on the dashboard as the speaker hanging on the window would not allow you to fully close the window and mosquitoes would fly right in.

Makes me wonder how much of that I inhaled and how much it will have shortened my lifespan. :-)

Anyone else wish the Stormtroopers would have come and blasted Archae?

Three dollars and one hour.

What a pathetic loser.

You are talking Stormtroopers here!  They would have missed!

I'd be more upset about the hour wait than $3, but then I wait for all movies I want to see to come out on DVD.

I'm quite certain all the well behaved people attending the movie were happy to not have his pouty ass in there with them.

Maybe there is a spinoff sequel in store featuring Jabba the Hut...

Quote

The Hollywood trade paper Variety wrapped up the year with its film critics picking their "Least Favorite Films," and it was surprising to read how several liberal-pleasing films were taken to ask for their artistic failings.
Perhaps the most eye-opening was Peter Debruge laying into Michael Moore as a bloated cartoonist and "embarrassment to America."

The worst: An embarrassment to America, Michael Moore’s latest editorial cartoon of a documentary is as sloppy as its author’s appearance (easily twice his Bowling for Columbine heft).
Unlike his earlier, urgent wake-up-call docs, Where to Invade Next cherry-picks aspects in which other countries can be made to appear more progressive than the States, while conveniently overlooking the limitations of each grass-is-greener locale.

At the base, it’s a fine idea, implying the humility to ask what we can learn from others, though Moore is a boorish ambassador at best, and his disingenuous approach undermines his own argument.
Empty prestige: On paper, Patricia Highsmith’s juicy lesbian romance might well be the film Todd Haynes was born to make, yet in Carol, the wooden result fails to communicate why we — or for that matter, Rooney Mara’s character — should love its vapid heroine.

The hand-me-down script reduces an actress as gifted as Cate Blanchett to an aloof fetish object, defined more by her fabulous hair, lipstick and wardrobe than by her personality.
It’s further crippled by a lamentable PC stance that projects tragedy upon the novel’s smoldering, period-appropriate sense of illicit perversion.

In short, Haynes forces subtext to the surface, while keeping his character insights skin-deep.

This isn't a drive-in, but it is one of the old time theaters before the multiplexes drove them out of business. This one has seen it's ups and downs, but seems to be doing well enough again.  $8.00 ticket prices, and they have bacon popcorn!.

This is off topic but it has to do with the Stars Wars movie from the thread.

I saw the movie at the theater last night and later I was reading about it on the internet and I came across this interesting tidbit about Adam Driver, the actor who plays the Darth Vader type bad guy from the dark side of the force:

Quote
Shortly after the September 11 attacks, Driver joined the United States Marine Corps[11] and was assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines as an 81mm mortar man.[12] He served for two years and eight months before suffering an internal injury while mountain biking without a seat.[13] He was medically discharged before his unit deployed to Iraq for the Iraq War.[14] After leaving the Marine Corps, Driver attended the University of Indianapolis for a year; he transferred to the Juilliard School to study drama. He was a member of the Drama Division's Group 38 (2005–2009), along with his future wife Joanne Tucker. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2009.[15]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Driver

I thank the man for his service, but come on!  Suffered an internal injury while mountain biking without a seat?  Sounds suspicious to me.

But I will say that I thought it was a good movie and Mr. Driver did a good job of acting.
