President Obama To Address Nation Over Terror Threats (SUNDAY EVE)

(CNN)President Barack Obama on Sunday night will deliver a rare Oval Office address about terror threats in the aftermath of the San Bernardino, California, shootings that claimed 14 lives. CNN and other networks will broadcast it live at 8 p.m. ET.

The White House says the president will provide an update on the investigation. Federal authorities have said the attacks are being investigated as an act of terrorism.

"The President will also discuss the broader threat of terrorism, including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how we will defeat it," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement. "He will reiterate his firm conviction that ISIL will be destroyed and that the United States must draw upon our values -- our unwavering commitment to justice, equality and freedom -- to prevail over terrorist groups that use violence to advance a destructive ideology."

Sunday's Oval Office address will be only the third of Obama's presidency. The prior two occurred in 2010, about the end of U.S. operations in Iraq, and the Gulf oil spill. He has delivered other prime time speeches from the White House, focusing on the killing of Osama bin Laden, military intervention in Syria, immigration and other issues.

Not a lot of excitement at democrat underground in anticipation of Barry's rare and historic and almost unprecedented speech tonight.  I had to look pretty hard to find a single post about it.  Five years ago DU would be crammed with posts speculating on what kind of monumental vision for America that Barry was going to read off his teleprompter.  It's almost like the primitives are dreading it.  Even the primitives know Barry is going to make a fool out of himself again and destroy any chance they have for victory in 2016 with more of his out of touch with real Americans talk about gun grabbing and muzzie coddling.

Had to look it up to confirm but he's only given 2 addresses during his entire 2 terms, from the Oval Office. He usually does them from the East Room when in the evening...

Then why so little interest?

I hope he concentrates on the need to get guns out of the hands of crazies such as the PP shooter and the shooters in San Bernardino.

Here is my bet: I bet he's going to NOT call it Islamic Jihadist Terror, I bet he's going to call for more gun control (Even though California has some of the already most ridiculous gun control laws on the books), he's going to say ALL religions have zealots (although NONE of the other religions go slaughter innocent people) AND he's going to defend islam by telling people not to judge everyone by the actions of a few (which would be super hypocritical by the way since imposing more gun regs on EVERYONE means he's punishing everyone for the actions of a few). And the DUmmies will be screaming for executive orders to curtail, limit or outlaw guns.

We'll see how accurate I am.

I expect this to be a "the action of these two extremists was horrible but it is only one act and as a whole our nation is safe and secure. It shows the desperation of ISIL now that we have them contained and under control. It is proof that my strategy is working. Don't listen to the republicans who are just trying to scare you because that is all they have. They will make this out to be worse than it is. Now give up all your guns and everyone will be safe."

Well, he apparently didn't talk about global warming, errrr, 'climate change;'

didn't really talk about any new trillion dollar programs to fight terror;

felt like his current cough 'strategy' cough is working great and he has ISIS right where he wants them;

the fiance visa program needs work (Personally I think problems from that direction won't come up again anytime soon again anyway and it'll be more wasted effort like sneaker bombs and the H1B visas, refugees, and radicalized Muslim kids born here are all much more likely sources of future attackers);

and of course that guns are bad...in particular, people who are on the no-fly list should be forbidden from buying guns.  One minor point not mentioned is that the list has no due process protections, it's entirely arbitrary and TSA/HSA doesn't even have to tell you they put you on it, let alone give you a hearing about getting off of it, and of course in the wrong hands any merely political opponents of the sitting regime could be put onto it at the stroke of a pen.
