So Romney attacks Obama on ISIS today..

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/romney-goes-after-obama-aftermath-paris-attacks

(Sorry, I hate MSNBC as much as the next guy, but caught it on a news blurb and didn't see it anywhere else).

Why are we constantly hearing that the establishment wants Romney to enter the race?  Did they not learn anything when he got his butt handed to him by Obama?  I have a few guesses...

The establishment is clearly ready to bail on Jeb.  He is going nowhere and frankly should have already dropped out.  Rubio is starting to get some major heat from Cruz and Trump regarding his stance on Immigration.  So now you enter Romney, and I see this...  http://mittromneycentral.com/on-the-issues/immigration/

Quote
Summary: Mitt Romney on Immigration

Securing the border is priority number one.
Those who have come to the United States illegally should not be given amnesty or an easier path to citizenship over those already in line.
An employer verification system must be implemented to ensure jobs are not given to illegal immigrants.
Illegal immigrants should be required to return to their home country.
Giving tuition breaks to the children of illegal immigrants needs to stop.
Federal funding for cities who consider themselves sanctuary cities should be reduced.
The United States needs to be made more appealing to legal immigrants.
Ending illegal immigration only strengthens legal immigration.

He's an establishment guy who *appears* (I've never looked how he's voted, or past statements, etc.) to be against amnesty and a path to citizenship for illegals.

I mean, it's November, and you still constantly see tweets or facebook posts or "anonymous sources" saying Republicans are trying to get Romney to enter the race...

This just smells to me..

Since it doesn't explicitly say that, I would not jump to that conclusion.  Political weasels have a way of 'Nuancing' themselves around anything that isn't ironclad, unequivocal, and laid out in black and white.

Not to worry.  The "establishment" has asked Romney to consider running again, and Romney says Americans want a new face!

http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/13/politics/mitt-romney-2016-still-not-running/
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

Well.. It does actually.

"Illegal immigrants should be required to return to their home country"
"Those who have come to the United States illegally should not be given amnesty or an easier path to citizenship over those already in line."

Seems clear to me (again, assuming he really means it, and isn't just pandering).

Regardless, I don't think it's gonna happen, I just find it interesting.  I've heard this 'We need Mitt to run again" crap quite a few times on radio, websites, etc. and I've also heard him rebuke the idea.. but it's strange it still keeps popping up, when he's clearly said (publicly) that he's not interested.  Just makes me wonder what is going on privately.. that's all.

We have enough candidates that shouldn't be in this race... we don't need another one.

Well.. It does actually.

"Illegal immigrants should be required to return to their home country"  Does not say 'Immediately' or 'Without asylum claim rights.'
"Those who have come to the United States illegally should not be given amnesty or an easier path to citizenship over those already in line."  Only says 'Over those already in line,' does not foreclose amnesty, the sentence is ambiguous as to whether the condition subsequent in the sentence relates to both things or only to an 'easier path to citizenship.'

Seems clear to me (again, assuming he really means it, and isn't just pandering).

I think you may be possibly underestimating the weaselhood of politicians when it comes to following through on the substance of words that sound good, and sound like they mean one thing, but really don't actually say what people think they do.

While I don't doubt Mitt is a terrific guy in real life, he's a miserable excuse for a fighter.  We need either Trump or Cruz to bore in and rip out the political throat of whoever the Dimwits nominate.  I figure it's at least a 50-50 chance that Hitlary's exposed crimes will prove too much for even some on the side of utter national decline, aka Democrats, to ignore.

Obola had already left himself so vulnerable on so many fronts after 4 years of criminal negligence and downright malpractice in his handling of everything vital to American vital interests that it's still hard to fanthom how Romney couldn't annihilate him.  Granted, it was a closely contested election, but it should have been alot easier for anyone but Obola to win.  Why give him another chance to botch things up?  We have some real fighters in our current crop of candidates, but apparently the establishment doesn't want to field either of them.
