They'd be looking in DC, not in her basement.

How, how, how does one person get so damned ignorant?
If they got into the email accounts of any of her correspondents, they'd immediately get HER email addy and its domain name (If not her server IP, depending on the method of initial penetration). The attacker does not know or, usually, care where the server is physically located. From that point, it's off to the races for the hacker.
It appears her server had such shitty security precautions that I have no confidence the investigators will actually be able to tell whether highly-skilled attackers, like the PLA, ever got into it or not, but given their relentless and pervasive attempts to penetrate our Government systems, it wouldn't surprise me to find out the Chinese were reading them before she did.
