As outlined in Marxist Leninist literature(if you can call it that) socialism recognizes 2 classes, the proletariat, and the bourgeoise.
In that system, if you don't already know what you are, you are automatically a proletariat.
Then there are the ones that think they are bourgeoise.
None of them actually are but are allowed to think and act like one, and reap the benefits of being a bourgeoise.
But none of them are actually bourgeoise, except for 1.
That guy is the absolute ruler and systematically executes anyone(usually an unwitting pretender bourgeoise) who becomes a threat.
Upon the death(before or after overthrow) of the absolute ruler, one of the unwitting pretender bourgeoise the previous absolute ruler didn't get around to assassinating takes over and repeats the process.
In the meantime, a lot of pawns in the proletariat class are "disappeared".
