I went to two in my hometown Atlanta. One of them we had about three dozen people. Met Catwoman and others.

I'll never forget that evening; there were lots and lots of us reading and commenting upon the DUmmie FUnnies, when his mother reached over the dead corpse of her son to punch in the news on the keyboard that Kephra had given up the ghost.

Since Kephra was in Indianapolis, which is reasonably close to Elgin, Illinois, Fat Che then tried to hustle up a charter bus and paying passengers, to take them to the primitive's memorial service.  Skins endorsed the effort--after all, Kephra had been a valuable contributor to the site--but I don't recall if anything ever came of it; I think the deal was, Fat Che planned on getting a cut of the fares.

     They DID used to have a lot more meetups, but on the other hand DU was way more popular back then. There used to be a few thousand posters there then, whereas now I bet there are no more than a couple hundred. You'd think that since Lord Zero fixed the economy, they'd have the funds to meet again, but no. Part of the reason, of course, is that (a) people die (Andy, Deadstone, et al), (b) they lose interest, (c) they take their toys and go home, (d) they get banned, and/or (e) they get old and don't want to do it anymore.

I remember that. I remember thinking at the time "WTF"?  Her son keeled over, was dead, and the first thing she does after finding him is announce it to the world on DU? Not call 911, not try to revive him, but post on DU?

Then a nasty thought crossed my mind: "I bet she is thinking free at last, free at last, thank God I am free at last!!!! My food bill will drop from 4 zeros a week to a more manageable 2 zeros."
