(******* "It's a deep-rooted conviction; my conscience won't allow me*****" . . . . . and it is MY

and it is MY "deeply-rooted conviction that my tax dollars should not have to go to pay the salary of a government employee who refuses to do her/his job based on "religious convictions." you damned, bigoted, ignorant, hate-filled cretins have no problem sucking at the secular, public teat so long as it suits you, but then whine about your damned "religious convictions", as though that has any bearing on doing your SECULAR, TAX-PAYER funded job.

if your "religious convictions" are so damned powerful and deeply-rooted, get a job in a church (oops, I forgot, probably doesn't pay nearly as well as sucking at the SECULAR, PUBLIC teat)

Does that include Muslims or just the fundies you hate?

But that's different.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the First Amendment's Free Exercise Clause sucks, but don't worry, the courts have almost blotted it out of the US Constitution (as amended). This newly created "right" may just be the last load of straws that can be used to break that part of the First Amendment.

It is my deep rooted conviction that my tax dollars should not go to pay for people who will not work for their keep.  You damned lazy, bigoted, ignorant, hate filled dummies have no problem sucking up money taken by threat of imprisonment from the people that earn it when it suits you, but then whine when you think it is not enough.  If your entitlement mentality thinks you ought to have more money, then GET A JOB AND EARN IT. Oops, I forgot... dummies could not pour piss out of a boot with the instruction on the heel.

See how that works, dummie?

I am going to risk the incoming on this one.

I think a public servant such as a licensing clerk should do their job irrespective of their religious leanings.  This isn't a cake or a catering situation where it is a voluntary agreement between 2 parties.  Filing paperwork for a legal transaction is an obligation required by the job.

Refusing a legal marriage license on religious grounds is the same as refusing a driver's license or even a birth certificate.  There is no alternative for the filer.  In this case the clerk is an automaton, like it or not.

Same thing for Justice of the Peace.  A minister can (and should) refuse to sanction under God homosexual "marriages."  The county clerk has no such relief under the state.

Can you imagine a Quaker refusing to file a gun permit? (btw: I know we have analogies flying fast and furious all over the place).

The DUmmies make their point incorrectly, but there is a point here.

OK, bring it.

No "in coming" on that. We understand that.
You're just the first to say it.  :)

However, there was one case recently where the clerk couldn't issue a license, because there was no forms available for same sex couples.  Most wedding license forms ask for the man's name and the woman's name, not him and him a or her and her.

Eh, if the people voted for it, or the elected officials voted for it, I would agree with you.  The SC has once again usurped states' rights.  At some point, civil disobedience is necessary.

I agree.
The same applies to the military service member.
They are to follow all legal orders.
They are to refuse to follow illegal orders.
