The Omaha World-Herald this morning (Monday morning) in an editorial posed an interesting challenge to the "mainstream" news media.
No link, because the internet version is by subscription only.
Anyway.
The Omaha World-Herald opined that the way the "mainstream" news media, especially the television news celebrities, is planning to cover the trip of Barry "Goldwater" Obama to Europe makes it nothing but an Obamalovefest, and that it is certain to erode away what little credibility the "mainstream" news media has any more.
The Omaha World-Herald thinks that Barry "Goldwater" Obama's trip to Europe--his first, by the way (anybody remember how George Bush was pummelled in 2000 because he "never went anywhere"?)--should be covered only by regular reporters, and one hopes, impartial ones.
In its editorial, the Omaha World-Herald issued a challenge to the "mainstream" news media.
If John McCain were to visit Vietnam.....the "mainstream" news media should cover that trip with as much fanfare and entourage and hoopla, as they are with Barry "Goldwater" Obama's trip to Europe, so as to "prove" they are in fact unbiased.
And so the question--IF John McCain were to visit Vietnam, would the "mainstream" news media give it as much play and fanfare as they are planning on doing in this other instance?
I think probably not--in fact, I'm sure 99% not--but I've been surprised before.
