A statement from Senator Jeff Sessions
« on: June 12, 2015, 09:39:05 PM »
Here is part of his statement; the link includes it in its entirety:

"It appears there will be another attempt by Tuesday to force through new executive powers for President Obama. A vote for TAA next week is a vote to send fast-track to the President’s desk and to grant him these broad new executive authorities. If that happens, it will empower the President to form a Pacific Union encompassing 40 percent of the world’s economy and 12 nations—each with one equal vote. Once the union is formed, foreign bureaucrats will be required to meet regularly to write the Commission’s rules, regulations, and directives—impacting Americans’ jobs, wages, and sovereignty. The union is chartered with a “Living Agreement,” and there is no doubt it will seek to expand its membership and reach over time."

"Fast-track will not only apply to the Pacific Union, but can expedite an unlimited number of yet-unseen international compacts for six years. There are already plans to advance through fast-track the Trade in Services Agreement, the goal of which includes labor mobility among more than 50 nations, further eroding the ability of the American people to control their own affairs."

"Americans do not want this, did not ask for it, and are pleading from their hearts for their lawmakers to stop it."

"While elites dream of a world without borders, voters dream of a world where the politicians they elect put this country’s own citizens first."

"The movement among Americans toward a decent, honest populism—toward a refocusing on the needs of American citizens and American interests—grows stronger by the day. Every vote to come before Congress, beginning with the next fast-track push, will face this test: does your plan strengthen or weaken the social and economic position of the loyal, everyday working American?"

Whilst so many politicians have turned their backs on their constituents & forfeited their integrity for the golden fleece, you, Senator Sessions, have remained true & honest & have done everything possible to try & protect our sovereignty & constitutional rights.

I & many other Americans are thanking you for all your efforts.

I acknowledge I've stayed with Obamatrade & I thank conservative cavers for putting up with me, not blasting me out into space & providing this forum for me to vent.

Okay, here's Senator Jeff Sessions, hanging in there, not retreating, but I imagine he's feeling angst this evening.  A heartfelt plea, for this gentleman cares as much for our Constitutional freedoms & America's sovereignty as does Boehner, McConnell & Ryan et al. care about the goods from lobbyists & special interest. Sessions "has issued yet another clarion call to House Republicans urging them to abandon GOP leadership’s desperate ploys to bring Obamatrade back to life and instead vote against Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and stop President Obama from getting even more power in his final years in office."

Think of this as his final, dire warning to other legislators before they attempt to pass this, which may be tomorrow.

Senator Sessions:

â€œThe House is preparing to vote again tomorrow on providing fast-track executive authority to the President. If adopted, it will be sent immediately to the Senate for final consideration."

â€œIt is essential that there be no misunderstanding: fast-track preapproves the formation of not only the unprecedentedly large Trans-Pacific Partnership, but an unlimited number of such agreements over the next six years."

"Those pacts include three of the most ambitious ever contemplated. After TPP comes the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the United States and the European Union, followed by the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA), seeking as one its goals labor mobility among more than 50 nations."

"Together, these three international compacts encompass three-fourths of the world’s GDP. Including the nations whose membership is being courted for after enactment, the countries involved would encompass nearly 90 percent of global GDP."

"Yet, through fast-track, Congress will have authorized the President to ink these deals before a page of them has been made public. Then, the Executive sends Congress ‘implementing’ legislation to change U.S. law—legislation which cannot be amended, cannot be filibustered, and will not be subjected to the Constitutional requirement for a two-thirds treaty vote.”

â€œThis nation has never seen an agreement that compares to the TPP, which forms a new Pacific Union."

"This is far more than a trade agreement, but creates a self-governing and self-perpetuating Commission with extraordinary implications for American workers and American sovereignty."

I'd be dishonest if I said I knew Senator Jeff Session's voting record.  I don't.  But when have we seen a politician so steadfast, non-waivering, honest & forthright, as he keeps the alarm going in a plea to preserve our Constitutional freedoms & sovereignty.

One last chance to stop ObamaTrade.  Tuesday morning, 6/23/2015.

Once again, thank you Senator Sessions.  I applaud not only your sincere efforts, but in also alerting us to how much damage this bill will do.

"Second chances do not come often. We now have new information and a new vote. Which means the Senate has a second chance to slow down and demand answers about the President’s plans before agreeing to fast-track their adoption."

"The President has refused to answer the most simple but crucial questions about how he plans to use fast-track powers. He will not even answer whether he believes his plan will increase or reduce the trade deficit, increase or reduce manufacturing jobs, or increase or reduce wages. Concerns raised about how this new Pacific Union will impact our sovereignty have been met with only a continued unwillingness to reply to any questions about the limits of its reach and power."

"The strategy is plain: ignore the questions and rush it through before we know what’s in it."

Michael Froman, Obama's trade rep.:  "...…we will insist on a robust, fully enforceable environment chapter in the TPP or we will not come to agreement…our proposals would enhance international cooperation and create new opportunities for public participation in environmental governance and enforcement…the United States reiterated our bedrock position on enforceability of the entire environment chapter…"
