The Jesus freaks are dying off

This is not an attack on true Christians. This rant is about those “Christians” who have and still use “Christianity” as a weapon against all of them “Non-Christians. They really did and do give Christianity a bad name.

Want to know what damage they can do ? Unfortunately, we still have one wingnut “Christian” on the Supreme Court, and he has been a major factor in ****ing up America. His name is Scalia.

But beyond this one sick/deluded man, there has been a broad swath of Americans who buy/bought into the snake oil salesmen who were selling Jesus as a product rather than … well, whatever you want to think Jesus was.

The poor souls who bought into it, then and now, can’t seem to grasp the larger concept of ****ing yourself on health care, having daily access to food, a wealth of good jobs, and a sense of security.

I don’t need to tell you that just about all of these people are hard-core Republican voters. Every time they go to the polls, they are clueless that they are voting for “**** me some more.”

As the title of this thread indicates, many of these people are older and dying off. But there are still enough young to middle aged victims to help Republicans win/steal elections.

I use the world “steal,” because it’s one of the few ways the GOP can gain national office. In well-gerrymandered districts, it doesn’t matter. But in districts that Repubs don’t “own,” a sufficient number of Jesus votes can make a stolen vote seem just plausible enough to prevent a massive revolution.

Anyhow, to get back to my original theme, I believe it’s a good thing that the Jesus freaks are dying off. (Along with the “Southern Heritage” hypocrites and so many other ignorant people who buy and guzzle down the snake oil.

Perhaps I’m looking forward to a more educated, aware American population. But then, I realize that the GOP is doing everything possible to prevent the young from becoming educated. Well, if you can’t turn them into Jesus freaks, “keep ‘em dumb.”

Seems to me that the Republican Party would cease to exist it they didn’t have the opiate of fanatical religion, or a clueless population. Take a look at Ireland. The vast majority of the Irish finally got it and, in addition to throwing out relentless child molesters, they threw out their specifically Irish brand of Jesus freaks.

What?  :whatever:

1. The people dying off are the original televangelists

who managed to translate the rural tent revival into television. Their spawn are poised to take over the media empires but lack the charisma of the old man and will likely piss it all away. While some of them are bravely soldiering on, they're abrasive and off putting. Franklin Graham is an example of this.

Without the really effective media god squad, the religious right is going to have to rely on the wingnut churches and without the televangelists, divisions are going to arise that begin to tear them apart into the factions they always were prior to the 70s.

Democrats are heathen, believing in nothing except what feels good at the moment.

They hate Christians and Jews equally, but for some reason the most rigid, narrow, vicious, crazy ideologues on earth, the muzzies, are democrat darlings.

It's one of those mysteries, like why Jews vote democrat.

This is not an attack on true Christians.

I think determining who is, or is not, a "true Christian" is above Cryano's pay grade.

And above mine, but I would "love" to see C's definition of a "true Christian". My guess is that would have little reference to how the Bible defines a believer.

C also almost certainly doesn't have a clue what "Jesus Freak" means - a drugged out hippie who was redeemed by Jesus and whose life was turned around. Something like what this song speaks of:

I guess it could be said that they are dying, in the sense that they are in their 60s and 70s. OTOH, they raised rather than killing their children, so this brand of Christians - real believers, not nominal pew-warmers - aren't dying out.

Well, we aren't really dying off.

Since we don't believe in abortion, we are still having families, and instilling our children with our values.  Whereas you liberals have exterminated 50 million of your own.

Now now, buzzy assured us this never happens and the DUmp hates all religions equally.

At least when they die they have something to look forward to.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Just about every thought Cyrano shared was way off base.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

My wireless router was barfing on itself last night. The missing comment was:

A friend was commenting a couple of days ago on FB about the terrible wages sin pays. I reminded him that sin's pension plan is pretty unpleasant, too.

This is yet another attepmt by a DUmmie to try and convince themselves they aren't seeing what their eyes are telling them.

Whatever a Primitive says it's usually the opposite that is true.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

1. Cyrano probably wouldn't know a true Christian if one was staring him in the face.
2. I'd imagine Cyrano's idea of a "True Christian" would probably be someone who'd say something like "Well, Jesus was a good teacher to follow and a good man, but everyone saying he's the son of God is just stupid. No, I don't read the Bible, it's a book of fairy tales. In fact, God doesn't care if we believe in him or not, all he cares about are that we don't oppress people, that we vote Democrat no matter what, that we stand against the 1%, and that we support gay rights and giving free healthcare to 'undocumented' immigrants."
3. As others have noted, it's ironic that they have such rabid hate for Christians (Who for the most part believe in loving their enemies, at least tolerating those with different views or practices, and tend to remain peaceful), yet love and cuddle up to radical Muslims who believe in either forcefully converting or slaughtering those who disagree with them.

1. His image of Christianity is probably one of DU's craziest crazies with the added habit of meeting every Sunday AM for an hour to hear some Doctor of Ovinity (from "ovine") update them on the current  craziness-of-the-month, a "Christianity" that follows rather than challenging Progressives' ideas.

2. Libs and Progs - whether nominal Christians or not - would have a hard time with the Jesus Who drove the crony-grafters out of the temple. With the Jesus Who condemned the denominational headquarters religiocrats hypocrites and sons of snakes. With the Jesus Who prefaced, "Judge not ..." with an affirmation of the Mosaic Law and pointed out that God's standard of righteousness was greater than that of the most righteous people Jewish society knew. Libs and Progs like them an imaginary Milquetoast Jesus who really doesn't condemn  anything in or demand anything of how they live.

3. Libs and Progs know very well there is all but zero risk in their condemnations of Christians and Christianity they imagine to be so-o-o-o-o courageous. As for their blindness to those Muslims who would as soon hack their heads off as look at them, as the old saying goes, "There is none so blind as (s)he who will not see."

I was stationed at FT Bliss when 3d ACR was there.  I know what warm places (on Earth, that is) can feel like.

Sin's pension plan.

Wonderful rich and compact imagery.
