Talk about a bunch of spoiled brats. The XBox One and PS4 are not a huge improvement over the previous systems.

Losers. I can only wish for them that they get over themselves.
The adults in my family and among my friends did not do gifts this year. My grandkids chose money for things that might come up related to school or sports over gifts. No one acts like they feel slighted. We don't have everything, but we have enough.
Pretty good place to be.

Other than a replacement fly rod (a nearly-unobtainable 9ft 3-weight) I bought for my stepdad, everyone else got perishable items. Candy, jams, butters, curd, mixes, some games, and a couple of decorations.
edit: I got socks.

Amen to that.

I feel bad that Rayvon's parents didn't contribute to Dre's millions by buying a cheap set of branded headphones.
Poor bastard.

This is a great example of how culture and advertising have twisted kids into material-obsessed freaks.
I grew up with Saturday morning cartoons that existed to sell mass produced plastic toys, and it's only gotten worse in the last 30 years.

My "coolest" techno-toy was Bluetooth headphones to replace my "old" headset with one channel that no longer works. Music is good at the gym and on the trail.
But the best gift I was given was our day with our older daughter, son, and daughter-inlaw, and FaceTiming last evening with our daughter who is attending a university in China. And the memories and prospects of another year with Mrs. SVPete!
If those twerps don't get over their infatuation with having today's latest techno-toys (instead of yesterday's latest techno-toy) they're going to have a very lonely life in a few decades! Techno-toys grow old and break; people "gifts"get better with passing time.

Those kids are a bunch of sniveling little bitches who will all be applying for SSDI disability checks due to the PTSD they'll suffer the first time reality smacks them in the face.

I like the old Warner Brothers and Hanna-Barbera cartoons that weren't really aimed at selling licensed toys of the characters. It wasn't until later that they tried to capitalize on the characters.

My father who is quite old for someone my age gifted me a few heirloom tools that I am really excited about.
It was difficult to buy for my little niece though, for the reasons you listed above.
