A veteran Florida police officer was shot and killed while on duty early Sunday.
Officer Charles Kondek, 45, was gunned down in Tarpon Springs, about 30 miles northwest of Tampa, after responding to a call for service around 2 am., local police said.
He was at Glen's Eureka Apartments responding to a noise complaint involving a suspect banging on residential doors — when the man allegedly shot him and fled in a car, WTSP reported.
A former NYPD officer, Tarpon Springs Police Offucer Charles Kondek got killed not too long after New York Police Officers Wen Jian Liu and Rafael Raos got killed. The killer is Marco Antonio Parilla Jr.

We moved from Sarasota, not too far from where this happened. I thought Tarpon Springs (north of us) was a quiet little Greek town, known for the sponge docks and the Greek restaurants. It seems they, like many small towns, are plagued with a drug problem. There was quite a bit about this in the Tampa papers.
The officer was called because of a noise complaint. The girlfriend of the killer was in the car, waiting for him, blaring the radio. She refused to turn down the sound. The officer went to check on the guy and was shot. It seems the guy was wanted for parole violations and didn't want to return to jail.
The funeral was Saturday. It's such a shame that the bad guys think they can kill a cop and in fact be celebrated for doing so.
