The group award is going to be the toughest for me, followed by the best beggar.
Skippy's not my own choice for Top DUmmie, but he's my choice for #02 Top DUmmie of 2014.
Some might wonder, "Why Skippy? He seems such a benign, cherubic middle-aged guy whose biggest fault is his penchant for really bad haberdashery.....and he always has an encouraging word for his fellow primitives in one strait or another."
I might remind--things are rarely as they seem to be.
As we all know, the primitives are generally windbags, keyboard warriors, loudmouths, lazing around waiting for "someone else" to do their work.
Skippy however is an exception; despite his brain problems earlier this year that seem to have diminished his cerebral strength somewhat, he's still got an awesome lot of grey matter to work with, inside his skull.
I assure others Skippy is the real thing; a real and present threat to our rights and liberties, to our very lives. He's probably the most dangerous primitive around.
My picks.
Excellent choices, sir; I salute you for your incisive perceptivity.
Me, I've pretty much given up on Skippy winning the "Bartholomew Scott" award, the "Skippy"--there was an unexpected candidate who popped up out of nowhere, who's proving immensely popular.
But I'm still hoping Skippy at least ends up in the Top Ten.
I'm also getting discouraged about the prospects for Ms. Vanderbilt-Astor, the NJCher primitive, who surely deserves to be in the Top Ten too, so I can eviscerate her with an award.
There's always of course the "franksolich" award, for a primitive whose greatness is undeniable, but who's been overlooked, but I already have a candidate for that in mind, because it doesn't look as if the wisdom of the people deems him awardworthy.
While not wishing to make the DOTY simply a participation trophy event I see no reason the "franksolich" award couldn`t be a tie if there is no perceptible means to rank one primitive above another.
I'm going to have to do my research, and votes, over the weekend.
.....but I wonder about "cbayer" and "cali" being the top pics here . . . is there something I'm missing? One is a pretentious airhead and the other one is some anti-social aging hippy?
Somewhere in your top five, the weighted votes, include NYC_SKP and NJCher.
Seconded. These two, definitely.Puke stew and puke for brains. Good choice.
In my Top 5 will be Skippy, NJCher (for her vomit stew), and nadin, just because. :whistling: I'm not sure of the order.
You know, once Mr Mannn nominated TheMastersNemesis for the "Skippy," given the most-paranoid primitive, I realized my crusade to have Skippy himself win that award was probably a lost cause.
And thus Skippy'd join the Bostonian Drunkard and Atman, in failing to win the award named after himself the first year the award was given out.
I hadn't in a million years thought of TheMastersNemesis for that award despite that his paranoia is legendary, breath-taking in its scale.
Which of course proves the superiority of collective wisdom over individual bias.
When casting my vote for the Barry it struck me how many times skippy had hysterically screamed to other primitives not to divulge information of their idiotic lives.
I literally had to toss a coin to make a few choices, as I had a really hard time paring down my list to just ten, much less selecting my weighted choices.
.....the nominations this year were really, really good.
The easy way to do this is to recall some primitives first, and then check to see if they're on the ballot. And if one recalls them, it's pretty likely they're on the ballot.
Other than nadin, though, they were pretty much the "B" quality of candidates.
However, that's nothing about which decent and civilized people can do anything; each primitive gives his own performance, and in the end his own grade.
We just rate them, and vote on them; the primitives themselves are in control of each of their own destinies.
The stewert: rbrnmw
Yeah, the primitive whose niece or daughter or cousin or whatever who was seeking donations to help with the relative's legal bills, as the relative had run over an old man and a little boy (killing one of them; I forget which one).
As it turned out, the relative had been drunk, and it wasn't the first time.....
SPECIAL AWARDS:
The nadin: MrScorpio - Ol' Brer Scorpio sho' do outfox us crackers! Every post is like an Uncle Remus story.
To assuage my white guilt and make a proper vote, I need a list of which DUmmies are black.....or maybe I should display my white privilege....no, I think I'll indulge my redneck, bible thumping, gun toting, bible loving, racism.
Decisions, decisions, It's so difficult.
Okay, I see what you're doing here; you don't want to vote for any oppressed primitives.
From what I can see from the ballot, MrsCorpio is the only authenticated black person on it.....which is pretty representative of the racial make-up of Skins's island as a whole.
There's also the 1strongblackman primitive, but I've never been convinced that he's really of African derivation; you know how DUmmies lie.
I missed so much of the year, it's going to be hard for me to pick.
I will anyway, just so I can ignore a few to piss them off.
Well now, if you can't decide, just copy.....my ballot.
Trust me, the choices are good.
Hell, Coach--I may just do that. :whistling:
Two and a half hours to go, and I can finally retire this thread to the DUmping Ground.
Lurking primitives perhaps need reminded that voting is via secret ballot, so what's shown up on this public thread is not necessarily indicative of the way voting has gone.
I really like this voting by secret ballot; when one voted by posting on the voting thread, lurking primitives could discern who was going to win and who wasn't, and so lost interest if they figured they weren't going to be one of the winners.
Primitives are interested in only each of themselves, no other primitives.
This way, since the primitives have no idea who's leading, who's ahead, who's most likely to win, they have to keep coming back.
Too bad for the primitives, but they really need to be concerned about their fellow primitives too, not just themselves.
The ending of the voting period is now a cliffhanger, rather than a climax.
I voted. :yahoo:
